Ben Davies

UEFA rules dont include Welsh players as HG. They are considered the same as a player from the continent.
Don't think that is right, rule was changed a few seasons ago , if like Ben they came through academies of clubs that play in English leagues like Swansea, Cardiff etc they qualify as homegrown but as we are not in any UEFA comps next seasons it's irelevant.

Interesting if true…and that would make you smarter than Google!

Isnt part of Davies' issue that he played academy age in Denmark as well as Wales?

For UEFA squads the rule was changed in 2022, any player who comes through the academies of clubs like Swansea, Cardiff , Wrexham etc who although in Wales are affiliated to English leagues those players are considered home grown, so Davies is homegrown but Eric Dier was not homegrown as he came through a Portuguese academy, the nationality of a player is irrelevant.

He was in Denmark 2001-04 but then completed 8 years from 2004-12 at Swansea youth level so easily qualifies as homegrown as far as UEFA are concerned since they changed the rules in 2022 which were backdated to cover players like Davies and any other player regardless of nationality who came the the youth academies of any Welsh clubs who are affiliated to English leagues, those clubs are Swansea,Cardiff, Wrexham, Newport and Merthyr Town.

Under UEFA all clubs affiliated to the English Leagues are considered to be an English club, so even though Swansea are based in Wales for UEFA purposes they are English, have a look at their UEFA page.

It confirms we have no ambition and just want to stay up.

Davies offers nothing. He's been there from the CL final to our relegation battle. How has his leadership helped except to allow mediocre on pitch performance

You are perhaps being a little harsh on the leadership side. I never wanted Ben to wear the armband. It's not just him. However, what he brings around the place with regards to mentoring the younger players and having a strong, professional personality has it's benefits.

Your biggest point which is absolutely true is the fact that he has been a massive part of the mediocrity that we've seen on the pitch. We are talking about a guy who is not competing for a first team shirt and worse still seems to never be fit for selection when required. It's just a stream of injuries including 5 consecutive seasons with a hamstring issue.

What is also interesting is that centre half and left back are completely different dynamics at Spurs. If Davies was at Stoke he wouldn't have kept Phillips out of the team at centre half. However, Phillips is way down our pecking order. Ditto Vuskovic obviously. We have a bunch of good centre halves and are adding more. There is no case in my mind to keep Ben for centre half cover.

However at left back Spurs have had nothing but issues in that position since Danny Rose got injured. The Reggie and Sess experiments failed and now we are suffering because Udogie is made of glass. We've brought Robbo in but that doesn't excite me based on what the Pool fans have told me about the 2026 version. I hope Souza gets that loan that gets him away from this mess for a year or so. Spence may continue to improve at LB but does actually imbalance us when he plays there. I hope he's mostly seen on the right though moving forward.

It's actually VDV that keeps me sane with the LB scenario.

It really feels like we have no money to spend . I can't believe that management wants see the weaknesses in both wings . The coaches would have pointed it out to them. We desperately need compensation for all available places if we can't afford quality.

Feels like we're back to the days where we are getting cheap over the hill players. Except that Levy has gone from millionaire to billionaire in the process. Again I've stopped buying Nike shirts from the Spurs store to protest.

It’s not even mid-June
