Assuming correct (1 yr loan and then permanent deal) I guess he'll extend his Roma contract first given he's out of contract next summer. Doesn't sound like a very Levy deal though - with 12 mos left on his contract, we'd just offer them a very low fee for a deal now I'd have thought

The benefit is, I assume, the deferral of starting to pay a transfer fee for a year. And then however many years beyond that over the length of the agreement. Buying him now requires immediate deployment of capital. A loan fee (on a deal with obligation to buy) would be much less.
