I don't think that's revisionism to say that Kane isn't a player that comes back from injury and hits the ground running.

How are people meant to discuss anything if when they do they are told they deserve Andy Booth's and it's infered that they are supporting their team the wrong way?

Many people don't want to discuss and just want to criticise, Kane is/ was a target on here when the team failed, lots of players and fans were happy for him to get them out of the mire often. In any other country or club he would be a hero rather than feint praise he gets and that's a trait I dislike.

The revisionism on Kane is astonishing, a player who continually carried this team is now seen as a major factor in us never winning anything. I sometimes think we deserve players like Andy Booth.
To be clear I put no blame on Kane for not us winning things. I just think Poch made a mistake starting a clearly unfit Kane in the final. That's no slight on Kane, it's a criticism of Poch.

I think he was a great player. It takes something else to refuse to let your team lose though. That Kobe Bryant mentality.

That's fudging rare, and it's no slight on his ability.

I think Kane is the victim of the bitterness that such a great player actually stayed with us and wasn't plucked away to be with the one of the 'traditional Sky4 luvvy' clubs. They are and still set a marker of 'if you want full respect you don't stay at Spurs'.

That's why i really want him to win the double at Bayern so they can STFU and choke on their salty cornflakes

I'm not picking on individuals, there are many post where he's been criticised for failing to score in big games or lacking commitment when the rest of the team get a pass. I'll never see an other player as good as him play for Spurs and it amazes me when I read players like Ginola and Lamela are hero worshipped.
Pochettino backed his best player to get him over the line and it failed, who knows what could have happened if the penalty had not been given so early in the game? Hindsight is a great gift.

Kane is up there with the very very best
In some key games, for whatever reason he didn’t get us over the line
It happens

The bigger mistake was starting Kane when he wasn’t ready.

I always felt the biggest mistake in that Final was when Poch brought Llorente on and took Dele off. Del had just started to find a connection with the game and had a half chance 5 mins before. With Llorente and Moura on the pitch, I felt that alchemy could well have worked again (especially with Kane on the pitch as well - simply because he occupied a marker or two). I'd have taken off Tripper and gone 'long' a la Sissoko down the channels/middle just like Amsterdam.

I have never, ever, ever understood how people think Harry Kane should not have started the Champions League Final. IF it was a gamble at all, it was one which had to be taken.

Kane has a phenomenal record but his performances and statistics in finals for Spurs and England have been well short of what is expected of him. The CL final aside. He was a passenger in the latter stages of the euros last summer. Didn’t look great that his replacement in the semi final Ollie Watkins came on and made an immediate impact by scoring a great goal to win the game. Some players just don’t rise to the occasion in the big games. Mo Salah is another great example. Scored in 1 final for Liverpool, even that was a dodgy penalty. Thierry Henry never scored in a final in his career.
The difference with those two examples is that both Liverpool and arsenal had quite a few other match winners. Son has also gone missing in finals, does he get the same stick?

We lose in both instances. He wins the double everyone laughs at spurs, he doesnt win the double everyone laughs at spurs.

I don't give two bricks about kane winning anything or not winning anything. As soon as we sold him he was dead to me like an ex girlfriend that broke up with me and hurt me. Haven't followed his scoring record at all.

(As he looks at posts of his ex on a beach in bikinis with family)

He hadn't played for 3 months. This isn't fairy tale land. The man hadn't played for an age there was no way he was going to be able to put in a competent performance. He should have been in the squad sure, but the plan should have been to bring him on during the match if needed.

He would not have been the first talismanic player to miss a final (it happens fairly often), nor will he be the last. Sometimes the timing is just brick, but that's sadly what it is.

Because he wasn’t fit, the game was being played in crazy heat against a team with alien fitness, the only logical choice was to start with our eleven best runners.

When he wins a title at Bayern the narrative will be ‘it’s only the Bundesliga’

You are both geniuses.

They're not geniuses (well, maybe they are who am I to judge?). It's just plain logic. One mitigating factor, though, is that if he had kept Kane on the bench and we had still lost the game - which was a very likely outcome considering Liverpool were the better team -, the backlash would have been unimaginable.

Not only would there be people, years and years later, saying he cost us the game by keeping our talismanic striker on the bench, but he would have gone down in history as the man who prevented arguably the best striker in our history to play in the most important game in the club's history.

After spending three months on the shelf, there was no way Kane could win the match on his own and that's what we needed on the night. Heart says 'play him', head says 'play a fit player instead' but head also says 'hum... what's going to happen if you don't play him? Let me think... Ok, let's play him!'

It's why they put all that pressure on Beckham /Rooney to play in the World cups when they both broke their feet in separate tournaments.

You play world class players regardless, as they are better half fit than a fully fit David Batty.

brick example but you get my drift.

The first bit of revisionism is the 3 month thing. He was injured vs Emirates Marketing Project on April 9, the final on June 1. 7 and a bit weeks. Somewhere along the line, a full month was added to his injury!

It always amazes me how facts go missing in the search for someone to blame.
