Andre Villas-Boas - Head Coach

Redknapp lost to stoke away and drew twice with them at home(one going to pens) last season.
This result is nothing to do with either manager.
Stoke are set up to deal with crosses with Huth and Shawcross being heading machines.
Tottenham are set up to play with wingers and rely on crosses.
Unless we get rid of our wingers this will always happen.

It did happen under Redknapp and the people now defending AVB were the same people who slated Redknapp for it. The difference is we played brilliantly most weeks and then slipped up. It would make far more sense to defend someone when it isnt normal.

However, this has become standard under AVB. No one can deny that. Its the same each week and it has meant we have become boring to watch and frustrated that we arent making good use of what still is a great bunch of players - players that have so much attacking ability.

Some posts are just unbelievable. Do you understand that are starting 11 are part of the squad? You called our squad awful, thats a pretty clear statement to mean. I mean its a ridiculously stupid statement, but its clear what you were saying. Those 6 I mentioned are part of the squad and played today. Apart from the obvious 3, I dont think there is another team in the prem who wouldnt take our squad. Im not sure how many clubs would want our manager though :(

I'm sorry, when did I say it was awful? I said it was lacking in key areas, which it is. Our squad is worse than last year. Teams would take out players but I think we have some massive holes in the squad. Today, we couldn't bring anyone on really, no strikers, not much creativity to bring on. Sometimes we need to change things up, and we're struggling with that due to having a weak bench.

Your last comment is just painful, you are so painfully boringly predictable. You've been like this since the summer, and being equal 3rd and you're too stubborn and ignorant to ever change your mind, we could win the eufa and finish 3rd and you'd still moan.

Some spurs fans make me sick, the internet unfortunately gives them a voice...

We were 4th before today's game, and performances had been gradually improving since the start of the season. We have not become boring to watch. We were doing pretty well and failed to break down a team that came to defend for 90 minutes and waste as much of those as possible.

Come on man, less of the exaggeration!

"taking control"....those are the same people being brainwashed by Opta stats. Our eyes tell us we created very little and the goalie made 1 save the whole game in stoppage time but OPTA says 22 shots (doesn't even go into detail about off target, long range etc etc) and we believe Opta over our eyes.

People were saying he needed to man up a bit by playing 2 up front - he did it. Now it's that he plays Sandro...

Sandro wasn't even sitting today. He was forward a lot. But the problem was simply that Stoke showed zero ambition. I'm not quite sure what people expected the manager should have done?

To be honest im one of those two up front bridge - however Ade has been playing so brick he has negated Defoe's effectiveness so I would revert back to putting Ade on the bench.

I would expect a Manager to give our players 90 mins to win a game. Why did we play better in second and not first half? why has this happened too many times this season where we are brick for 45 mins but much much better for the other 45 mins? You are picking on this game which is fair enough as its the most recent but there are so many other games where this issue has been evident.

Not unlike recent seasons where we've often managed 20-30 shots on goal, but very few clear cut chances. Struggling to break down defensive teams is not a new concept.

Because teams come to WHL to defend. Previous seasons have seen us most weeks put in a brilliant display and then the odd slip up. This season its every week. Win, lose or draw it is normally a terrible performance. And please no one come along and tell me we dominated, we didnt dominate, teams come to WHL and dont try to play. They came for a point and got it, when we go 1 up thats when you need to look at who is dominating - unfortunately teams like Norwich and West Brom have taken control against us when needing a goal.

I will cut him some slack as it's clear we lack a creative midfielder. However, if he sticks to his word and says we won't buy anyone in Jan and he thinks were good enough for top 4, he's talking out of his arse.

Btw, how disappointing has Adebayor been this season? 1 goal! I've said all along he's not good enough for a team that wants to be top 4 season in season out.

Because he altered the tactics and switched Bale to the right and Lennon to the left.

Whilst an odd sub, it's not quite as odd.

He should be coated, but imo not quite as badly.

The only difference is it wasn't the second to last game of the season where we desperately needed a win. But we needed to win today with all of our rivals winning also.

His subs leave a lot to be desired it has to be said.

No, it's really not.

Villa game - We have Defoe a proven goalscorer on the bench who can come on.

Today - We have no proven goalscorer on the bench at all.

So bring Townsend on then. Don't bring Parker on.

And he's also talking gonads if he believes we don't need another striker.

I don't really care for the whole branding people as part of a camp, but some of the posts in the OMT are just laughable.

Some don't like AVB for whatever reasons, and maybe even want him to fail, but we were not brick today and he is quite clearly not clueless about tactics. When you only want to see the negatives it must get really boring. Always trying to find reasons to call him a failure, never acknowledging anything positive.

You see it with certain players as well, the poster has decided in advance that a player isn't good enough and will spend his time picking their performances apart to find something to justify his criticisms.

I would say you are one of the biggest culprits of doing what you have just described. It just so happens in this case, you have pre-determined that you wont do it with AVB, infact you seem to do the opposite.

As for AVB and tactics, VERY suspect in that area. Not to be unexpected with his experience level though. I hope AVB does well, really nice guy.

Performance level compared to what it should be is very far off, its not looking for negatives - they just happen to be there. The positives... well most of them are stuff that has never been a problem and not to be unexpected with this group of players.

Wut?

Switching Bale to right and Lennon to left is what almost won us the match, but you can ignore that if you want.

What a load of crap. We played well today, absolutely dominated the game. The only mistake was playing 2 up front; but even then it's not a disastrous one. Lennon wasn't that bad, Bale on the right isn't that bad. Why does everyone cry and throw a paddy every time we don't get an easy win?! WHy do you focus on the negatives all the time instead of the positives?!

Fact is, our squad isn't good enough because of our past few windows, they've been awful. Our squad is severely lacking in key areas meaning it's difficult to change a game.

And that is Levy's fault I'm afraid.

Exactly one was Parker for Vdv, when we already had Modric and Sandro in the middle, with Defoe left unused on the bench.
The other was a central midfield for a central midfielder that hasnt completed 90 minutes for 11 weeks.

I don't agree with either sub.

Just think the VDV for Parker one was far worse than the Dembele for Parker one. For a number of reasons that i stated.

People think different things about different situations SHOCKER...

please don't continuously bring up Dembele's fitness as if it might have been the reason being that this substitution was made in the 85th minute.
