One of the hardest things for me is that the hard right (and hard left) are making up information and passing them off as factual. I really struggle with this. When facts become too difficult for people to take, let's make them up, let's amplify their fears and create a bogeyman for them. Elon Musk with his "free speech" agenda is one of the biggest facilitators of this. I hope Jack Dorsey and Co choke on their money for selling out Twitter.
The so called "woke" agenda is one example of populist amplification. Sometimes the stuff does go too far but for me it's not a concern like Climate change. That terrifies me and this year with hurricane Milton and the floods in Valencia is there for everyone to see. To deny it is effectively like denying physics! It's like a resurrection of the flat earth society.
And again in America, Biden tried to do some really good things on the Climate through the Inflation Reduction Act, encouraging electric vehicles and targets to cut emissions by 40%. These were good things that are now likely to be rolled back. I don't get why the Dems didn't defend their record more vigorously during the campaign, quite the opposite in fact. Trump and his misinformation machine spewed all kinds of rubbish almost unfettered. And unfortunately, people want the simple solutions out forward by populists. It's the same every where I guess *sigh.*
I really pray for a return to centrist politics. But Centrist politics for everyone not just a few wealthy people.
Scary thing for me is that with these lies they are widening the divisions, not closing them.
There does not seem to be anyone out there willing to accept you cannot appeal to everyone on everything and if you are not 100% with us you are against us.
Alex salmond as a man that I had no truck with.
But as a politician he tried to govern through consensus and under different circumstances I could have voted for his party.
