American politics

One of the hardest things for me is that the hard right (and hard left) are making up information and passing them off as factual. I really struggle with this. When facts become too difficult for people to take, let's make them up, let's amplify their fears and create a bogeyman for them. Elon Musk with his "free speech" agenda is one of the biggest facilitators of this. I hope Jack Dorsey and Co choke on their money for selling out Twitter.

The so called "woke" agenda is one example of populist amplification. Sometimes the stuff does go too far but for me it's not a concern like Climate change. That terrifies me and this year with hurricane Milton and the floods in Valencia is there for everyone to see. To deny it is effectively like denying physics! It's like a resurrection of the flat earth society.

And again in America, Biden tried to do some really good things on the Climate through the Inflation Reduction Act, encouraging electric vehicles and targets to cut emissions by 40%. These were good things that are now likely to be rolled back. I don't get why the Dems didn't defend their record more vigorously during the campaign, quite the opposite in fact. Trump and his misinformation machine spewed all kinds of rubbish almost unfettered. And unfortunately, people want the simple solutions out forward by populists. It's the same every where I guess *sigh.*

I really pray for a return to centrist politics. But Centrist politics for everyone not just a few wealthy people.

Scary thing for me is that with these lies they are widening the divisions, not closing them.
There does not seem to be anyone out there willing to accept you cannot appeal to everyone on everything and if you are not 100% with us you are against us.

Alex salmond as a man that I had no truck with.
But as a politician he tried to govern through consensus and under different circumstances I could have voted for his party.

So it's about putting people in their place.
I identify as a GHod.

Now you have to treat me like a GHod, bow down to me, pray to me, and give me gifts.

My pronouns are supreme being/omnipotent master

If you don't use my pro-nouns you're a bigot and a nasty vile person.

And if you get it wrong, it's a hate crime and you should go to prison.

I'm still shocked that so many people actually voted for the psycho orangutan.

That said, I'm not too worried about it. I can't remember my life being much affected by him being president the last time, and it didn't change notably after he was gone. Americans have reason to worry though. If he goes through with the custom wall, with ridiculous taxes on imported goods, it will damage their economy in the long run. It's like tinkling your pants when it's cold. Feels warm for a short period, then it gets nasty.

Also, it was quite amusing last time, with the stable genius making a fool of himself in front of the rest of the world, week in, week out.
He is very much the front man now, though, for some serious right-wing nutjobs who really control the levers of power - see Project 25.

The adults who controlled Trump's wilder impulses (i.e. his desire to shoot the BLM protesters) during his last presidency have been purged. He has control of all three aspects of American government this time, and he has legal backing - through the Supreme Court's ruling on presedential authority (and he has control of that institution too now) - to do anything that he likes.

It is, in all likelihood, going to be very different to last time - and not in a good way.

Mind you, I am looking forward to seeing him create a new 'Golden Age' for his nation (as he's termed it) so that every government around the world can copy the blueprint.

You are unsurprisingly getting mixed up with personal pronouns / adjective noun combinations. And it'd fairer to say you identify as a supreme clam, but if I said that you'd no doubt be crying about it for days. We should have a whip round to get you a t-shirt that says "grays called me a clam in the politics thread and it hurt me deeply", everyone would be happy to chip in.

I'd be interested to know if you've ever been wronged by an intersex person or a someone who identifies as non binary but you'll most likely go on a rant about who knows what instead. It's so odd what bothers people, if you are indeed a real person that is. Star wars and they / thems are really making things hard for you aren't they petal.

I get it. I'll put the 'pro-nouners' (for want of a better collective name) on your ever growing 'hate' list.

Now get back in your skip...ratty.:)

You have every right to self-identify as a GHod and I respect your want to do that but, as with every other GHod out there, I don't have to pray to you or give you gifts, but you have the right to want them.

If calling you an impotent master is what you wish then fine as it makes no different to me, whether I mean it or not. but if it makes you happier....

The rest of it is you issues that you need talking out with someone.

Just make sure you don't add trans to that list... it's all to common to add stuff that was never insinuated.

If anything, these pro-noun numpties that are making new one up everyday...

Are actually making it harder and more difficult for trans people. How can you get people to accept your change of pronoun from he to she, or vise versa if so many are trying to push insane made up pronouns making it a laughing stock building the narrative it's all make believe, when for trans people it's all very real.

Probably not explained it very well, but all this pro-noun stuff, isn't doing trans people any favors.

All pushing BS does is create resentment...
