American politics

I think she will win, and pull off surprises in places she is not expected to. I'm basing that off the bullish comments from some of the real experts and the fact that dems have outperformed polling in all the recent elections. We will see how it goes, but that being said, Trump will claim victory on election night irrespective. Like last time he'll point to the 'red wave', a phenomenon that happens in every election where the GOP go ahead early when rural votes come in first. And when the 'blue shift' happens later in that evening, as it always does, he'll cry foul.

That won't be the end of the story though. brick will continue until someone is sworn in.
For me it seems too close to know what to think. Too many unknown factors, too close in the swing states.

The brick stopping when Harris is sworn in is a fairly optimistic prediction? Or you just talking about the legal battles and such?

He'll cry foul in any way imaginable, and some ways not even imaginable. That's the outcome to hope for... fudging hell.

Part of the puzzling thing for me is how people can believe him. He's such an obvious liar and narcissist how can anyone believe or trust him on anything. I wouldn't believe him if he told me the sky is blue, and I already know the sky is blue, but if he told me I'd go out and check anyway.

People vote for him because they believe him imo. Or they trust that he will do more of what they want to happen.

From my perspective at least people belive him and trust him because they've been lied to so comprehensively by so many sources for so long. People actually, really truly believe in a lot of what he's saying. Enough to be voting for him.

And I'm sure many of them would be equally puzzled by what me and others believe as we are by their beliefs. They would probably also think that I've been lied to to believe as I do. I've been tricked by the main stream media, democrats/communists etc.

The same Trump associates and Republicans who are now distancing themselves have a lot to answer for. As does Fox news, Tucker Carlsson and all of the bastards who knew that they were peddling lies.

We're all be susceptible to believing in this absolute con man of a human being given enough lies. Perhaps some differences in how many lies and how early we'd have to get them. But there's an alternate universe where you and I are big Trump fans talking on a Spurs message board about our admiration for our great leader.

I enjoyed this book. I think most British people think that Americans are similar to us in values, beliefs, attitude to social problems etc. I’ve been to both coasts of the States a dozen or more times over the years and they really aren’t. BoJo was rightfully removed for his antics and lies, which were minuscule compared to what Trump has done, says and gets away with.

Thanks for the recommendation. I haven't heard of that one before.

Part of the Trump phenomena is that he gets away with things no one else would get away with. Certainly no Democrat.

Not sure if a Democrat president would get removed for what BoJo did, but certainly would be in a lot more hot water than Trump.

And mostly that goes for previous Republicans as well. Trump and Trump fans is something else.

I keep hearing the "people want change and to be listened to" as a reason behind people getting behind him, I get that and I believe their is truth in that to an extent but STONE ME does that excuse not listening to the utter sh1t that comes out his gob, how anyone in their right minds thinks he is ok is beyond me. That aside he is also a rapist, so thats a terrible look

You forget that the founding tenet of America is the freedom to persecute. They are all the religious zealots who left enlightening Europe so they could be free to abuse and harm each other. You can't really rationalise when you start from there.

I think in this universe Spurs won a few trophies.

The polls are being pumped at the moment. Some 50+ right leaning pools have been injected into the mix this week alone. The aggregate polls try adjust for the bias but it does move the needle. So it is likely Harris has a few points lead even though the polling is showing the gap narrowing. That's what the poll anaysts are saying anyway, but of course they could be wrong, and all of this is with the boundaries of statistical error. Squeaky bum time.

Yeah, I think there are going to be all sorts of legal fudgery up until a new president is sworn in. After that it become moot as if Harris or Trump is sworn in you won't dislodge them.

Agreed, i think she’ll win. I don’t think it will be by a margin clear enough to avoid dispute by Trump’s team, though - and with the Supreme Court as it is, it looks likely to me that he’ll find a way to make it look like he should be President.

I usually like a lot of your posts but I refuse to like one that suggests even on a multiverse level that either you or I would ever be a fan of him! Interestingly Tucker Carlson showing up at a rally confirming he was never really a journo anyways (as if evidence was needed), what a creepy weird dude.

I do sort of feel for the embarrassed republicans who whilst understanding democracy isn't perfect, don't wish to be associated with what has and what will come to pass. It's just odd for a country "founded" in the way that it was to be convinced by bulllbrick on immigration, seems like a fair few could do with reading the inscription on the statue of liberty, but that'll probably get retconned as communist propaganda whilst the constitution is rewritten by some narcissist attempting to avoid any future elections....

Just pleased that Tucker could make it after being attacked at home by demons. He’s very brave.

Anecdotal and beyond irrelevant in terms of sample size but I was chatting to a couple of Americans a few weeks ago. General small talk - we were sitting next to each other in a restaurant and they mentioned they would be getting home from their European trip just in time for the election. I avoid talking politics with strangers but I passed a general comment as to how the whole world was watching what would happen. Just to build a picture of who I was talking with : the guy was I would say late 60s. A lawyer from Maryland. And he said he saw the election as a choice between “an egotistical maniac and the village idiot”.
I was actually quite shocked at his view on Harris and it really made me think that looking in from the outside we have no idea how Americans view their choices. Personally I am not especially convinced by Harris but - from the outside - she is hands down the obvious choice to vote for given the alternative. But if my anecdotal experience is in any way representative of how Americans genuinely see their options, then I can definitely see Trump winning. Just because the undecideds might stay at home.

I work with a lot of American's, it disturbs me greatly how they see things at home.

People I respect, who seem smart in so many ways, think Trump is a viable candidate.

I have no idea why they can't see it.

He had to explain those scratches to his wife some way.
"It was demons honey! I swear on Obama's life it was demons."

I assume this is all just some BS he came up with to allow him to be re-born (as he had an overwhelming urge to read the bible after being semi-flayed by a demon/his mistress/one of his 4 dogs/ Rocky Racoon/Rupert Murdoch) so he could move on from his recorded comments about hating Don the Felon and allow him to re-hitch to the gravy train.

No idea how anyone with 1 brain cell could possibly think Trump is a good idea, but I did see an "exit poll" of early voters a few days ago and it was 63% Harris.

Obviously Dems are more likely to vote early/by mail and it was just 1 poll, so expect it swing right.
