Alex Pritchard

He was the best player in the championship last season - there's not really any more he can gain from a loan.

He needs to be challenging Eriksen for his #10 position. It's a shame he's injured now, as with Eriksen off the boil a little, it would be the perfect time for him

Townsend and Carroll potentially leaving in January should help clear the route for him a little.

Townsend and Carroll leaving wont make any difference to Pritchard. Townsend doesn't ever get on the pitch which indicates that he's only on the bench to make up the numbers, whilst Carroll is a very different player. People like Mason, Onomah and Chadli are more likely to be roadblocks to Pritchard get game time

I think he's better than that. The way he was playing in the spring and summer, he'd be knocking on the door of our first team, seriously pushing Eriksen

We have a squad of 25 now, not 38 like Poch inherited. We don't need to be loaning out players over 21.
He has been out half a season, by the time he gets back to full match fitness he would have missed most of the season anyway. Let him get match fit somewhere while playing regularly in the premiership.

All our AMs are quite versatile, so moving any out clears some room. You'd probably rank them in about this order at the moment.

Eriksen
Son
Lamela
Dembele
Chadli
Njie
Onomah
Carroll
Townsend
Pritchard

So it would move Pritchard up from 10th to 8th, and I expect would jump Onomah fairly quickly too.

Remember he's already featured in the league for us this season, so must be in Poch's first team plans.

Although Carroll and Pritchard are very different in style (a ball recycler vs a playmaker), they broadly occupy the same position - note for instance how Carroll came in as a direct replacement for Pritchard when we got injured for England U21s in the summer

He needs to build up fitness and play regularly. He can do that much more easily in a Jan loan.

He's missed 3 months - not all that long at his age. He also played without a summer break because of U21 commitments.

I think we would utilise a ready made Eriksen deputy quite a lot over the spring

Any news on his return?

Have great hopes for the lad and feel he could be the wildcard that gets us top 4, especially with Eriksen's apparent dip in form

Now I may be exaggerating here but I honestly think this kid could be our trump card for a top 3 place, if not more...

Why are we fourth and even being credited with a title shot? Simply because four players turned out to be better than our wildest dreams...

I am sure that many would have questioned Harry's ability to replicate his magnificent form from last season this time round, when defenders knew him and were out to stop him.
While most approved Toby's signing (@Gutter Boy excepted) we never anticipated he would become one of the best if not the best centre half in England - let alone in his few months at the club
Dele Alli? "One for the future" was the most optimistic outlook when he signed and several questioned why he was not sent out on loan
Eric Dier? What was Poch thinking? Square peg in a round hole simply because Daniel Levy was a cheapskate and failed to sign the defensive midfielder we were crying out for...

These four players - plus Hugo - have given us a top 4 central spine but we still suffer creatively. Lamela and Eriksen have had their games but, if we are to be honest, they do not provide that creative genius spark on a consistent basis. If we incorporate that into our team, we will go places!!!

I have massive hopes for Pritchard. I followed most of his game at Brentford and he showed an awareness, unpredictability and passing ability that could make him our next gem. Yes - they were games in the Championship but then Alli's were in League One.

if Pritch can makes the fantastic four into a famous five, we could have a season finale to live long in our memories.....

Says something - a huge something actually - that you forgot to mention Dembele in that little lot. You could just have easily thrown something like 'and how did Poch manage to pull that one out-of-the-bag?

But I agree wholeheartedly, Pritch has the potential to be Poch's piece-de-resistance.

As much as I feel like he might not quite be good enough to make it with us, here is a list of players who at one time I felt like might not be good enough either: Kane, Dier, Rose, Bentaleb, Chadli, Mason, and Carroll. Basically, I've learned that I don't know brick and just to sit back and let Poch and co. work their magic.

And could be getting fit at almost the right time. Shame he is not a week further on. This Sunday would have been the perfect chance to give him a start or Sunderland even. With Eriksen's slight 'dip' in form he could be an ideal replacement. It might even be the nudge Eriksen needs, if he thinks his place might be under threat

Delighted with this news. Think he can make a difference to our team, he will be perfect against those teams that sit deep and challenge us to break them down.

I agree that Dembele has improved beyond recognition to become a key member of the squad. However, I would not put him in the "untouchable" status of the other mentioned four. The first half against Everton was possibly our best 45 minutes of the season and was achieved in his absence.

Pritchard has the ability to unlock doors but also get goals

He is also an unknown quantity at this level which can be invaluable and he will also be fresh

Arsenal always have Rosicky back for Jan and low and behold he is one of their best players as everyone else is shagged and he isn't. Remember when Butt was our stand out player at the World Cup... He had been injured fora decent chunk of the season before too

I would suggest our first half away to the Goons was better

Seeing us completely outplay them in their own back yard was at once both gloriously satisfying and a little disconcerting.

Just imagine if we pipped them to the title. Just for a moment.
