well that sucks.....
Silver lining. He will get some rest. Hopefully its just a sprain so minimal time off then ready for our pre-season.
Knowing our luck, he won't be back until January and then we will end up having to send him on loan to shake off the rust.
I'm more upset for him. He was having a great game and would've had that position nailed down for the rest of the tournament. The fact that he might miss games for us atm is secondary.
It is all the more unlucky for him as this Summer is a crucial period in his journey to becoming a part of our first team match-day squad (and even possibly a starting 11 first team player). Hopefully he can still play a part in our pre-season.
He's done enough out on loan to prove to Pochettino that he deserves a chance for us next season, Poch has been pretty clear on that. An injury at this point doesn't really change that much at all.
Shame as he could have had a good tournament, but I don't think it's crucial for next season at all (unless it's really serious, which there's not really any reason to believe).
I don't mean in terms of proving himself. I mean in terms of being able up his fitness and also play in the non pressure games before the start of the season allowing him to fit in with the team pattern, etc.
Didn't both Kane and Mason play in our pre-season games last season?Sure, but like Kane and Mason last season he can establish himself at a slightly later stage of the season and still be successful. Injuries are inevitable, this doesn't seem like a particularly bad one or a particularly unfortunate time to pick up an injury. Would be just as bad or even worse if he picked up an injury in mid August, or 3-4 weeks after starting to get game-time, or 3-4 weeks from now mid pre-season. Or if he had picked up an injury whilst establishing himself in the Burnley team 10 months ago.
