Alex Pritchard

Brentford's playoff hopes appear to be faltering. Losing tonight, but have 3 very winable games left (2 at home) and Ipswich and Wolves play each other at the weekend.

From what I've seen of him, I think he should go straight into our first XI when he comes back. Just find a spot for him in the '3' behind Kane.

Lamela/another..........Eriksen..............Pritchard
............................Kane.............................

Anyone know if Pritchard will be able to play the last couple of games for us if Brentfor fail to get into the promotion qualifiers?

I have some vague memory of PL players on loan in Championship playing for their PL club at the end of the season after the season ended for their Championship club. But I'm not quite sure and if it has happened I'm not sure it's still possible.

Didn't that happen with Carroll last season ?.

I'd like to see Pritchard back ASAP.

Looking in to it I don't think so. But it actually happened with Pritchard himself last season after Swindon's season ended. Came on for a couple of minutes in the last game, unused sub the game before.

Wasn't possible for Carroll as QPR were in the play-offs for promotion so their season hadn't ended yet.

ASAP means Brentford not getting into the play-offs and that should open up the possibility for Pritchard to get on the pitch in a game or two, I think. But on the other hand being involved in some play-off games might be a good experience for him.

Hm. Come to think of it could something similar happen with Dele Alli? Mk Dons are looking locked in for at least a play-off place, but only 3 points off automatic promotion which could see Alli back with Spurs at the end of the season...

IIRC Pritchard came back to us early because of a clause in the loan to do with his 21st birthday. I might be wrong but I think the loan ended when he hit 21 and even if Swindon had made it to the play-offs, he would've been absent.

Personally I think Pritchard is more suited to either the central or left sided positions in that attacking midfield trio, a bit like Eriksen. I know people on here have said that he's played on the right for Brentford at times, but whenever I've seen him he's been centrally or on the left. He's quite two footed, but clearly stronger on his right, he's not the quickest and I think putting him wide right would see similar problems as we've seen with Eriksen, Sigurdsson, Modric, Kranjcar etc in the past.

On a slightly separate note, I've yet to see a hitc article that's been worth posting for anything other than direct quotes. This one seems to keep up the exceptionally low standard from that particular site.

I agree he seems similar to an Eriksen, but it gives us a good option for Cups or even against teams that sit back to play them both.

Not sure re his pace, I've seen him take on his man a few times, think he's a bit quicker than Siggy/Niko to be fair, don't think Chadli is particularly quicker and when in form has shown he can do the job.

I agree that he will offer us a good, potentially very good, option. I do think him and Eriksen could play together in our system.

About his position, we'll have to wait and see I suppose. Could be that he'll be a natural on the right long term, for me though he looks a better fit elsewhere.

Ipswich and Wolves played out a 1-1 draw, which means Brentford can close the gap on the playoff spots.

5 Derby County P43 75 pts
6 Ipswich Town P44 75 pts
7 Wolverhampton Wanderers P44 72pts
8 Brentford P43 71 pts

Eriksen probably wont be here next season so it wont be an issue.

Derby fudged up with a 4-4 at Huddersfield, but Brentford only managed 2-2 at home to Bolton. Looking very unlikely now.
