*** OMT: Spurs vs Sunderland*** Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Sunday 4th January, 3pm

Brentford result looks Tremendous though, got out of there with a point, despite what bedwetters might say

The performance was there to see as well. Was such a superficial lazy analysis by most. What we missed against Brentford and today is more strength in depth. Could see us winning both with potent players coming on - saying we had the holy trinity of Kulu madders and Solanke to bring on for example.

The positives are our build up play which is improving. But we are championship quality up front.

Very little about today is Frank credit

- Manages to play a side that works due to injuries/availability
- Why the fudge hasn't Tel played more out left (huge part of our first half)
- Once again, having an attacking player close to Richi works (who would have guessed?)

We get 1-0 up, as comfortable as we have been in a game for a long time, Sunderland makes substitutions, was obvious our midfield was getting leggy, simple like for like sub would have won us the game, but the "Brentford" hold on for a 1-0 with 30+ minutes on the clock kicks in, reverts to his brick double pivot (and again, who would have guessed? not like we haven't seen it not work half the season), we get overrun, Sunderland gets their first set of chances and in the end, we are probably lucky with the draw.

Meanwhile, his previous club run by their set piece coach scores 4 goals and is in 7th (which apparently to some people is beyond our fudging team).

Add in the club not having a replacement for Johnson on the bench, genuinely another confirmation of the brick at the top.
The intent of the team was totally different. That wasn't just due to the players. If Frank gets the blame when there is no attacking intent he also has to get the credit for when it's there.

Was it perfect? No. Did he get every decision right? No. But if you think it's going to go from the absolute brick of the last few months to something better than what was seen today, within the space of a week, you need to give your head a shake. It's going to take a while to go from pure defensive boring football to getting the balance fully right and the players used to it.

Once there is progress and we continue on this path I'm happy with that. Now whether or not I expect us to continue on it is a different thing.

If you were to put Tel/Odobert in the Championship at this point in their development I'm not sure they would stand out

We brought on a player who struggled to score in the championship as well.

He gets credit for remembering Tel exists? for seeing that Richi needs someone alongside him?

fudge mate, I'm not saying we know better, but this is the same brick as when Ange simply refused to play Spence and then "lucked" into having to play him, you don't get credit, you need to look in the fudging mirror, what else is he missing on the training ground?
Mate, I get it. But TF has proven if you might lose the ball you get benched. If he discovers Tel can control the ball and put crosses in then I'll take that as a positive.

This Tel looked good. Him and Odobert look like they can be genuine outlets.

Mate, that's quite an anti Frank rant there! In fact, Sunderland had 1 shot of note and scored. We lacked a clinical touch up front. We really do need to bolster our strikeforce. But really promising signs from Odobert and Tel today. Thought Bents was good too. But we pass so many times when the better option is to work the keeper. But soo many teams are accused of trying to "walk the ball into the net. " It's just one of those things where we have to improve decision making up front. Thought we showed much more intent today just couldn't finish them off.

I don't think TF did much wrong today. Thought we looked good until it came to scoring!

Whilst I don't like the booing and wouldn't do it myself, I think it's more a boo of frustration.
Sunderland are organised but we should've won that game, with better decision making we would have been 3 up before conceding their goal.
The fans have seen it so many times over the years and far more often than not over the last year.
As for the away games, results have been good which obviously help the mood, performances have not.
I was at work whilst the game was on so only watching it now.. The thing is we don't get behind the team even when it's going well. I'm watching the 1st half atm, we are 1 up and playing well yet still it sounds like a library there. Compare that to somewhere like Elland Road.

The 12th man is a real thing yet we don't use it at all.

So whilst I get the frustrations it seems crazy to me that they're quiet all game when it's going well but the moment it goes wrong they find their voices.

Think you're being overly negative to be honest, maybe based off of some previous performances. Sunderland have form for coming on strong, you announcing that a simple sub would have won us the game is just typical armchair fan nonsense.

We played better today, with a forward line that was unfamiliar with each other and missing Simons who can knit things together for us. Considering past performances we wasn't just all of a sudden going to be dominating anyone for 90 minutes, with better end product we would have won no problem and that's not on Frank....

Agreed, today was much, much more watchable than the Brentford game.

It is, because it shows how close we can be, but the guy doesn't get it.

The game was lost when he went to Bentancur/Palhinha pivot, you don't think that's on him?

We didn't lose. I think it was sensible we were 1-0 up at the time and it should have made us more solid. He has the data on players so I trust him to make those decisions. Tbh Palhinha, not soon after coming on, moved the ball brilliantly, I think, to Tel but unfortunately we wasted the chance. We need to improve our decision making Infront of goal for sure. But we don't have the quality of Kane or Son anymore. In fact we don't have the quality of Defoe, or Keane. So it's not surprising that we cannot finish teams off ATM. I think it is something the manager needs to work on while not compromising our defence.

I have no problem with Palhinha, I don't want him playing with Bentancur trying to see out a 1 goal margin with 30 mins to go. Legs/running is a huge part of the PL (especially this season), it's why United with a 200M front line are still brick (their midfield can't run).

I think the game showed he was wrong, we play attacking, it helps our defense, we sit back to hold a lead, it invites pressure and it cost us. Sure if we had Kane/Son the game would have been dead in first half, but we don't.

I am pretty sure even if we won 3-0, he would have been wrong... we get it.
