Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

The autumn budget is going to be really interesting in the below context. Governments have taken decisions in the national interest knowing it will damage their election chances before. Most analysts believe that Labour will have to break their election manifesto promises on taxation after bottling welfare reform....but that bottle job doesn't suggest a strong cabinet confident in their large majority and the cushion of 4 more years....we will have to see...they could choose to bumble on and kick the can down the road like they seem to be doing on every major domestic decision so far...1000015913.jpg

He's right though. You would have to be a bit dim or desperate to make out there is any contradiction there. In the first clip the question and answer was about detention NOT deportation. He said everyone including women and children would be detained although he said the picture with children was complicated. In the second clip he said reports that they'd deport women and children hadn't been discussed and were wrong, wrong, wrong. He is actually right. The first clip clearly shows the question and answer was about detention on arrival. Deportation was not discussed and so headlines that Farage had confirmed in reaponse to questionimg that he'd deport all women and children arriving by small boat were indeed wrong, wrong, wrong.

In the first clip he clearly states "absolutely everyone"

Maybe we have different definitions of the term "absolutely"

Eh? He literally says that Reform will stop the boats "by detaining and deporting absolutely anyone who comes via that route."
This is then followed by a question about detaining women and children but before that, in his speech, he quite clearly states that everyone coming on a boat will be detained and deported, which he has since rowed back on.

Congitive dissonance

Yes he did.

But I think this is actually a really important point that I want to stay on, in this thread.

Because the type of journalists that do this reporting and the type of people that post the stuff you do on here are, i'm afraid an absolute encapsulation of everything many people are utterly sick of in this country and its politics.

You and others think you're better than Farage AND more importantly, those who vote for him and those who listen to and agree with at least some of the things he says.

Luton Spurs for example is accusing me of "cognitive dissonance", which fundamentally means that he is saying i can't see the wood for the trees. He believes he is better than I am because he can "see through" Farage.

You and others like you will say stuff like Farage offers simple soundbites to complex solutions and you want "adults in the room" that acknowledge and engage with complexity. You like to think that your intellectual superiority means that you can see through lies and you like to actively mock people you believe are beneath you.

Yet Farage and Yusuf spent hours discussing various policies on illegal migration:
- The detention and deportion of those arriving by small boats (where he referred to absolutely everyone) and in response to a specific question about women and girls and unaccompanied children he confirmed that they would all be detained but also accepted (which is key) that unaccompanied children represent a much more complicated picture. In the full extract of the speech he talks about the complications and potential difficulties of the policy. Labour's immediate reaction to it for example stated "he can't even confirm his policy on women and children". Well which is it? He's either contradicted himself or he has talked about the complexities of implementing the policy.
- They also discussed policies related to illegal immigrants that were already here and discussed plans to detain and deport the estimated over 650,000 adult males already in the UK illegally.
- The press conflated the two issues including in the question he was asked in the second clip and so it was explained to the journalist that only adult males were discussed in that context, and reports otherwise were "wrong, wrong, wrong".

Sharing and voicing opinions based on soundbites and spliced together clips rather than accounting for the full information picture is exactly the behaviour you and others look down upon. "The right wing press and influencers just deal in inaccurate soundbites and fake news....

....then we will get the response "well i'm not interested in what Farage has to say so i'm not listening through his speech and news conference....i'm not going to engage with the EDL idiots flying flags, I'll avoid them.

You get the snide comments about them flying the flags at half mast as they're too thick to realise flags should be flown at the top of the pole. Which is ironic when the person making such a comment didn't think about the maximum height of a domestic ladder being the actual reason.

If you're unwilling to engage and unwilling to understand then fine, its a free country. But its the fundamental hypocrisy, superiority complex and unnecessary hostility and condescending attitude that people are sick of.

And Farage is doing a fine job of tapping into it in my view and i am more and more likely to throw my vote Reform's way with everything I see and hear.

From a bloke who pretends to have worked every job on gods given earth to pull intellectual one upmanship on every post on this forum.............that has made me laugh out loud.

So thanks for that

Knowing you are not a bigot a racist a grifter and knowing you are not being sucked in by them to donate hard earned money to the likes of Farage and Tommy Robinsons to fund their pension funds, lifestyle and drug habit, you better believe I think I am more intellectual than those people. People who cuck for Trump whilst claiming Lucy Connolly is a hero and free speech is dead in the UK............yeh those too.

To not want to spend my weekend up London flag shagging, coked off my bonce and p1ssing down side streets, painting wrong flags on zebra crossings and the like.............yeh I am fairly happy with my life choices thank you very much

The worlds become more easier to hoodwink than every before and I prefer to be on the right side of calling out Trump, Farage and TR. You continue to defend them to the hilt, its clear as day what your motivations are with it.

Your inability to recognise sarcasm, humour and abit of fun being had in the midst of the posts, like that about the flag at half mast, thats on you pal.

Here we go again. I haven't pretended any such thing nor have I used any job to pull intellectual oneupmanship. If I am using relevant experience to make a point I will simply refer to said experience.

Also, I have never defended Tommy Robinson. I have defended Trump on some specific issues such as his policy on Russia/Ukraine and I've defended Farage on a number of things, because on those things I agree with him.

Also I have an inability to recognise sarcasm and humour in posts, just like you lot jumped on the "douchebag" comment and used to personally label me simply in a manner I would never choose to do despite my continued attempt to own the situation in good nature.

I nearly every post about a subject you have had a job in that field, I don't know how many jobs you have had or how old you are but it literally seems to be every job other than being ziggy stardust or a spiders from mars
I would refute that characterisation. I may be wrong but I believe I've probably mentioned two jobs on here in specific contexts where I felt the need to clarify why I held the view I did as I wasn't basing it on say an academic or press article or opinion.
