That's fair.

What he probably needs on his CV is a decent stint at a club though. He did 2 seasons at Fulham and 1 season at both other clubs (so far).

He needs to do what Howe, Dyche, Moyes or even Big Sam did with Bolton and stick with one club for a while. Then you see him through the different phases that happen in management.

Success for Parker means staying in the PL, even if that is by goal difference. Kompany couldn't.
Sticking ain’t his choice don’t forget

What we can't do is go for a manager with a completely different style, leaving half the players unsuitable and starting a new cycle of clearing out players to get the "right fit" in. We need someone who can keep building on the current group of players.
I think the idea that many players are only capable of playing well under 1 system is way overblown.

I agree, when I played (yawn now) I start in the "W" formation 3-2-5 to 4-2-4 then 4-4-2 finally 4-3-3, being a defender didn't make much of a problem as I was never asked to play in the bizarre zonal marking system.

I’m not sure we’ll find another manager who doesn’t have a completely different style to Ange. All the others seem to think about defending at least some of the time.

When we talk about new cycles we should remember Ange’s impact was immediate and then after ten games it evaporated.

Perhaps we should change manager every few months.

Postecoglou had one of the best honeymoon periods of any manager in recent memory but (as Watford found out when they used to swap every few month) sometimes the new manager bounce is as short lived as van Nistelrooy’s and then there’s Sherwood!

I thank the lord some of you lot aren't recruiting our manager, you change names every month! Now flavour of the month is Parker, yet when he was managing Fulham he was ridiculed on here. It will take a bit more convincing that he has what it takes than just getting Burnley to be a solid outfit in the Championship. Lets see how well he does in the PL because last time it wasn't great. Would be happy with Glasner or Mario Silva personally, maybe not the most exciting but a safe pair of hands who I feel would handle the poisoned chalice well....
I think limiting ourselves to looking at the PL alone is a mistake. The likes of Glassner, Silva, Emery, Klopp, Poch etc etc didn't have PL experience until they got it.

Its not PL experience that makes a good coach, it's actually being a good coach first and foremost. Yes that requires some decent analysis but that shouldn't be beyond our capabilities if pretty much every other team can identify coaching potential from abroad.

An entirely pointless question since, thanks to this utter charlatan, the club's involvement in all other competitions was ignominiously ended a long time ago. When he's GONE, I might care again, but for the present, he has all but destroyed my interest in watching.
Not pointless at all. Your answer is really interesting - it seems like you want all things to align when we win something. That's fair enough.

For me, I'd rather win the EL with Ange.
He isn't PL standard.
The football is "ok" to watch.
EL win and Ange out is better than no EL and Ange out.

Agreed. I do think we will end up going for someone already established in the PL though, after the Ange risk I think that's the route they will take. But you are totally right of course...

You might be one of the few who know this for a fact my friend.

76/77 was the worse for sure but they have been others. The only posistive was the fun we had traveling around the second divison games the next season [ only missed the Hull away trip]. We were storming the table until the last few games when we went to pieces and nearly blew it.

I have memories of that season, a few home games, but it was only the next couple where my folks let me start to free-roam so to speak home and away where possible!
