OMT: Spurs v Chelsea Thursday, 8pm at Stamford Bridge

  • Ange Postecoglou has lost all three of his Premier League meetings with Chelsea – the only side he has faced without yet picking up a point in the competition. He could become the first ever Tottenham manager to lose each of his first four league games against Chelsea in charge of the club.
  • No side has earned fewer points in Premier League London derbies this season than Tottenham (10, level with Brentford), who have lost five of nine such games this season (W3 D1). Only in 1987-88 (6), 1989-90 (6), 2003-04 (6), and 2004-05 (7) have Spurs ever suffered more London derby defeats in a league campaign.
  • Coming into this matchday, only Leicester (10) and Southampton (12) have lost more Premier League away games this season than Tottenham Hotspur (8). Not since 2008-09 have Spurs suffered more away defeats in a single league campaign (11).
  • Chelsea have lost just one of their last 12 Premier League games against Spurs (W9 D2), winning the last three in a row by an aggregate score of 10-4.
I think those stats belong in the Ange In or Out thread

But we have been smashed pretty much every season since 1989 I think

We’ve picked up a grand total of 8 league draws at their gaff in that time.

Ironically our 1:2 loss at “home” that season was only their 2nd away win against us in over a decade… a sequence which seems a distant memory now.

No idea how many we will lose by tomorrow, but wouldn't it be a refreshing change to have some defensive solidity? Is that too much to ask?
If i was going to try and win this, id go for (assuming Kulu is still injured but Richy is back):

‐-----------------Vicario
Spence---Romero----vdV-----Udogie
--------Bentancur-----Gray
Odobert-----Maddison----Richarlison
-----------------Solanke

The key though is actually playing a double pivot, and the fullbacks actually having some defensive responsibilities

Lol what a pessimistic and negative lot,

The first game back after the international break can be quite hit and miss. Chelsea is also in a poor run of firm.

I think it's about 45% chance we might still win this, especially if Chelsea lose their discipline and open up.
It's Chelsea. At Stamford Bridge. Chelsea could have lost their last 10 games 20-0 and we could have peak 61 double winning team out there and they'd still pummel us. It's the law.

Throw into the mix the brickest spurs team we've had in about 20 years and yep, sorry i can't be optimistic.

I am ever hopeful. GHod help me, I shall be sat here expectantly.

Though I genuinely wonder if we can keep a clean sheet for the first minute with no panics and no scary moments; that would be a boost and an improvement on recent performances.

FFS

I literally just realised this is at the Bridge...

I am 31 and we have won there once in my lifetime...
