Yves Bissouma

I guess the likelihood is that he wouldn't have been late on multiple occasions if he was fully bought into this project and a massive part of Frank's plans. All he has done is prove why it is a good decision to cut him adrift and get him out of the club. It is no longer a football ability conversation.

I don't want there to be double standards though. At the moment Isak won't train or play with the Toon. Douglas Luiz has gone on strike at Juve. Personally, I don't see any difference with these guys to what Harry did to Nuno when he stayed in Miami that summer. That was massively disruptive to our club. The worst was probably Aubameyang with all his disciplinary breaches at Arsenal leading to him being stripped of the captaincy and sold to Barca. I'm not surprised with Biss though in the same way I was with Harry. I was actually quite shocked that a player with an exemplary record would end up on that side of the fence. I'm not with Biss.

I hope Frank continues instilling these standards into our players and is willing to be hard line with them. It's part of the equation of how you win trophies in my opinion.

Shocked to see Biss in this sort of stupid trouble again. He needs to be sold for a number of reasons - he's lowering standards, it's utterly unprofessional, it strengthens the position of Frank.

This, in itself, probably wouldn't be a selling offence but on top of all the other nonsense with him - I've just had enough of him.

The good thing about having a different manager is he won’t be loyal to players who need to be binned just because we won the Europa League, like Bissouma and Richarlison.

We really don't know what causes the disconnects in Biss. There is a supremely talented player in there, yet he can never quite find consistency in behaviour or form. I think back to when I lost patience with him around Xmas 2023 when he got a fifth yellow, then got sent-off the following week meaning he missed an extra pair of matches ontop of the Afcon ones at a time we needed him. He simply lost his focus. Being late like that, focus. You have to wonder if there's something systemic psych-wise? I find it hard to believe that he dedicates to screwing up! I believe he tries his best.

In the words of Tony Soprano about his son AJ, “maybe he’s just a fudging idiot?”

Thing is i don’t think he will have many clubs interested now they know his history off of the pitch.
Never underestimate the ego of managers in the PL. And I don't mean that as a dig - you need an ego to do the job and I've heard many of them say it. That's why people take those jobs you think "this is going to ruin your career". They all believe they are the ones to turn it around.

There is a very talented player in Bissouma. We've seen flashes and Brighton saw a lot of it. There will be a manager or two out there who believe they are the one to get him reaching his potential.

I just think it takes all types. That's life.

His off field inconsistencies match his onfield inconsistencies.

But he's still got where he has in life, so must have put the work in? Bit like Ndombele...certain defects in your make up just don't allow you to make it at the very top.

Maybe this will kick him in to gear.

I'd suggest if we wanted to sell him then this has probably made it tougher to get rid at a decent price.

At the same time, Frank doesn't have a history of going public with internal discipline issues. However that could be attributed to Brentford players all being his choices.

Will be interesting to see if he makes the squad at the weekend.

It's more likely something like ADHD.
TF stated it was several times, which is the point where you have to take action.
Even with the best regime of coping mechanisms, the odd occasion will happen and can be managed and accepted (unless you're scara) - but several times has to be acted upon.

Got on trouble last season for smoking something.
Ended the season with major European trophy.

It's consistent - so either something he can't fix, isn't willing to fix, or needs a lot of support to fix.

Who knows? None of us do.
And Just to be clear my original comment wasn’t strictly serious…

I mean, he got booked for a clear dive when already on a yellow card. Iirc against Bournemouth in the 1st half which made things rather difficult for the rest of the team. Bissouma is obviously a bit of an idiot, not in the sense that most footballers are, but actually with in game situations / footballing IQ as well.

However, he played a big part in the EL running so I can't hold any ill will for him (nor does it give me pleasure to dwell on his worst moments as he's under the spotlight and we all make mistakes..

Seems a fun guy to be around with an infectious energy but you've got to meet the basic requirements of a manager. It's going to be hard to sell him and it'll probably be at a loss, was it 25m to secure his services from Brighton?
