Wilfried Bony

The time to have bought Bony has gone - We should've been in for him, ahead of Swansea in the summer of 2013.

West Ham were ahead, but Fat Sam insisted on Carroll. All that juicy profit the dildo brothers missed out on.

Weren't we also in for Carroll at one time but the scousers blew us out of the water? :pale:

Anyway, both Bony and Suarez from the Eredivisie have both been success stories for a combined outlay of approx £35m and weren't there rumours that we were sniffing for both but we opted not to take the plunge on either? . So never mind the juicy profits the dildo brothers missed out on , I'd think, Levy will be screwing.

Interesting looking at that list it seems almost 50/50 the player becomes a star or a complete flop, so how is Finnbogason?

That was Bony's first prolific season, with 31 in 30 for Vitesse. Scored 16 in 34 for Swansea the following season.

Bas Dost scored 32 in 34 for Herenveen, then moved to Wolfsburg where he has so far managed 14 in 47.

Vleminckx scored 23 in 31 for NEC. Following season he got 6 in 17 for Club Brugge. Now plays in Turkey.

Suarez we know all about.

Hamdaoui, where have I heard that name before? :-k

Alves, Kuyt, Kezman, Van Nistlerooy all moved to English clubs, Huntelaar flopped at Real and Milan before going to Schalke.

Van Hooijdoink had already done it at Celtic, Forest and Benfica before joining Feyenoord and had a successful spell at Fenerbache later.

El Ham played for us didn't he (one of Arnesen's signings)

Bony going to City for money could help us, because Swansea will suddenly have a lot of cash, and Naughton and Carroll are probably high up their list. I wonder if they'd fancy Ade on the cheap to replace Bony too.

They already signed a striker on loan to cover for his ACoN absence, Nelson Oliveira. Played at the WC, can't get into the Benfica side.

I don't know. I just don't want Bony or Benteke types, big and powerful. I want a more allround type striker.

Such as???

This guy is proven in the league in a good footballing side

Works bloody hard and can play as a lone striker too

He is the epitome of the kind of striker within our reach until the big money clubs come in

The kind of player your talking about would have to be a big gamble for us to be be able to afford him or someone with baggage (like a Ade)

Personally i don't think Bony is the level of player we should be spending big money on. Id wager there are plenty of players on the continent or further afield that are within our grasp who are as good as he is and probably even with more potential, he is a good player but his value is doubled because of the premiership premium.

As we've seen with Soldado though, that is not something to just dismiss.

There's no question of whether he can do it in the PL. He has and is.

We also need to be careful about our idea of "lone striker"

Watching our version of Poch's side, we actually need a "main striker" i.e. someone who plays as part of a front unit, can interchange with Chadli/Eriksen/+1 at minimum.

A lone striker who wants every goal or who does not play all the time (i.e. is invisible for long periods of the game) does not seem to be the guy we want/need.

Don't know enough about, haven't watched enough Bony (or Benteke/Lukaku) to tell if he fits

I've read £30m which is only £2m more than Everton paid for Lukaku or £4m more than we paid for Soldado.

Hmm put like that it looks a snip but I suppose it just shows how inflated prices are nowadays too.

I still think Lukaku would do a job for us but he's certainly not showing it for everton as a whole this season.

I could not agree more. Something about Bony remains unconvincing to me in terms of his being an elite player.
