Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

I stand corrected, thought it was over with Villa drawing.

Still, i wouldn't trade a 'chance' of 4th for them winning the league.

That’s the key. It’s not in our hands even if we win tomorrow. If the trade off was an FA cup or even a league cup then honestly I’d take that but that’s not how it works. Even guaranteed CL football isn’t a 100% fair trade IMO.

Time will tell. A year in the EL could make us a lot stronger outweighing the short term benefits of CL football.

This.

2 seasons ago we pipped ARSEnal to 4th spot and it was hailed as a turning point which would see their best players fleeing to join CL clubs whilst we'd be able to assemble a squad that could challenge for honours.

Perhaps continuing the painful rebuild whilst challenging for EL might prove more fruitful in the long run than hoping Ange can get our squad up to speed whilst also trying to compete with Europe's elite clubs.

Just watching Ange’s press conference highlights on Sky Sports News…prickly! He was so cross he even made eye contact with the questioner a couple of times.
I think some of the questions at least could be interpreted as questioning his professionalism. He will get a bit annoyed with those, think we've seen that before.

Think he's aware of his image as a jovial, "matey" kind of guy, and he does play into that. But he also wants to make sure that his authority and professionalism is clear and never can be reasonably questioned. Doing a good job at both imo.

It's my favorite thing with Ange (I wish people did it outside sports with reporters)

- He always answers your question, but he makes it clear (e.g. his what % of Spurs fans callout) when you have asked a stupid/clickbait question
-He also makes it clear when it's a narrative question (e.g. was waiting on that one)

He makes reporters think just that little bit more, is clear to your point that he is friendly to them, but won't let them drive the narrative.

Wanting your team to lose and wanting them to throw a game arent the same thing. Not that I was really advocating for either.
They're exactly the same thing - you want Tottenham to lose so it hurts another team. Cut it how you like, that's throwing a game. The purpose of being in a sporting contest is to win.
And yes you did advocate for us to lose. Go back and read the conversations.

Interesting tack from him post-game, angrily saying the 'last 48 hours have shown [him] that the foundations are fragile', and saying it 'wasn't our usual home atmosphere', etc. Feels like he's angry we're not bothered by the loss all that much.

Which is totally fair on the one hand, and good he sees it - Conte said the same. But on the other -

A) You knew exactly what you were walking into mate. Fair to say, if our foundations were rock solid, then our first choice for coach would not have been some bloke from Scotland whose previous experience was in Japan and Australia. You're not perfect, we're not perfect - hence why we hired you.

B) *You* put the fans in this position to begin with by losing most of the last ten games and thus needing this win v City to keep our slim CL hopes alive, while also knowing it would give our rivals the title. Do a better job against Arsenal, Liverpool, Saudi Sportswashing Machine, Fulham, Wolves, West Ham (twice), and we wouldn't be in this position. You can't blame the fans for choosing the least painful outcome out of the brick sandwich we were given.

Exciting summer coming up, and no doubt he'll get at least some of the players he wants and hopefully we'll be better for it next year. But improvement has to happen at all levels, including the coach.

All depends on what he really means
If his focus is on the fan who were there today he should apologise as no fans were booing, or jeering or doing anything negative despite the fans being the ones with everything at stake

No really issue with him saying it, same when Conte said it.

But he needs to take ownership of the faults in the areas he control, we absolutely stunk the place out for weeks.

He’s right. We are fragile. It’s endemic at this stage. It’ll take a very special coach and group of players to overcome that.
