Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

Can't see another win.

Gonna be beyond unpopular for saying it and don't like myself for even thinking it but maybe Son goes?

I'm left stabbing in the dark at our issues, another complete free fall of a season, yet it should not feel like this, doing better than I expected tbh. Sadly, there is way more rebuilding needed than was first thought.

But one thing I am sure, I am in on the projec with big Ange.

I cannot stand De Zerbi. Nope.

Good Lord, give Ange another season and two windows at least...
I’d give him two more seasons and four windows. It’s a tough job relative to expectations, he’s slightly ahead of par for the season and we’ve been in transition for about 30 of my 40 years supporting the club.

It’s brick at the moment but if anyone thought he was going to be successful without at least one sticky patch, they weren’t being realistic.

Yeah, but we are just as bad now and Ange has had three times as long.

I think we need the end of the season. The injuries really disrupted our season and most of the players who suffered have struggled since returning with the exception of VDV. We also need to offload a few players and bring in better players. Don’t get me wrong the last few weeks have been worrying but I’m fully behind Ange as long as the form picks up early next season. I honestly don’t care where we finish now. I think we won’t even need to win another game to finish 5th anyway. I hope we play the kids against city and let them murder us and deny Arsenal the title.

Assuming we miss out on CL this season, I think Ange is toast if we miss it again next season. That’s how we operate.

I’d love to do that last bit. Could you imagine?

Knowing our luck, we’d still fudging beat them. Our record against City is the most un-5pursy thing about the club.

I agree with all these points. I also think that the massive breaks between games has not helped. Players need to play regularly to not only get a rhythm, but also to have proper situation react to.

And Ange should not be immune to criticism. I hope he reflects on this season - his first in this league - and looks to improve in his own performance.

With a bunch of playas shifted, and some new ones in, next season could see an improvement across the whole season.

It’s gonna need a couple of windows more
Fans have to dig in and create the cult like vibe you get at Klanfield

Right now Ange is out of his depth, has he got the smarts to correct it at this level? I am not so sure! I really do hope so but I am afraid he's too stubborn and won't adapt, we've been shocking at set pieces since the Emirates Marketing Project cup game and he refuses to accept it is important enough to address no matter how many games it's made the difference in.
When managers make obvious errors it usually means he's a busted flush and it's only a matter of time. For example bringing on Gil who hasn't played for months and has definitely been deemed not good enough/ surplus to try and change the game sets off alarm bells for me, it says to me he is totally out of ideas.
He is blaming the players for not believing in his system and then shouting at players from the sidelines, if he hasn't got that message across by this point in the season it's no good digging players out in front of the world during the game, that's on him. After he did that everybody was afraid to pass backwards and there were some very poor decisions made.
He adapted well to loosing players earlier in the season so he can obviously think on his feet but he's not been prepared to adjust tactically to teams working us out, the demise of poch was that he struggled to adapt his tactics outside of his "philosophy" other than "Llorente longball" (along with replacing dembele with sissoko). I hope Big Ange doesn't suffer the same rigidity and comes back swinging.

His shouting is coaching
He isn’t out of his depth
It’s early days
He is being judged generally against managers who have been in this league longer and in their club for longer
But… he has a lot to fix and it’s up to him to do it

I don’t think any manager who has his team in or around top 4 for most of the season can fairly be described as out of his depth.
Yes things have gone a bit pear shaped in the second half of the season (yet we’re still likely to get 5th, and 4th isn’t quite out of reach although not wholly in our hands, especially with a game we as fans would be happy to lose).
Let’s see how things go next season. Ange needs to work out how to get the team to sustain the style of play he demands throughout a whole season. Better players will help. More games (match sharpness; rotation) should help. He may be stubborn (I’d prefer ‘committed to his vision’) but I don’t believe he is stupid.

My one slight concern is what Dan Kilpatrick reported about players and staff not buying into his style. It’s the staff bit that I find worrying (if true of course) as they are the ones who first and foremost need to have confidence in what Ange is doing in order to impart it to the players.

I hope you are both right. don't misunderstand me, I'm still in on Ange and desperately want him to take us forwards but the signs worry me when he makes decisions during games that seem to be against all the fans instinct. When it works we are all in but when it doesn't I've seen it so many times before and its normally the beginning of the end.
The only reason we are close to 4th is because manu Chelsea and Saudi Sportswashing Machine have dropped their levels significantly, any other season we are a few places lower.
I'm all for a rocket fergie style but he proper lost the plot.
I'll agree he is not out of his depth if he turns this around, I think it's pretty bold to say he's not at this point but right now he is struggling to make the team create anything or defend set pieces, we look amazing beating the press and controlling possession but teams are allowing us that knowing a few corners or free kicks and we are chasing the game.
The possession game is making us gloss over poor results in the games like west ham and Everton, other than the villa game we've been toothless for months.

There is a video of him losing his brick and shouting stop passing it f***ing backwards. Now if that is true and it's not what they are told to do in training....why are they doing it?? Conte said the same thing

Occams razor, simplest answer is likely right. Collective lack of self-confidence and belief in the system.

It's on Ange now to get them through it and back to feeling invincible like the first ten games of the season.

The simplest answer for not passing forwards, imv, is a lack of movement off the ball for the man in possession to make a progressive pass and/or a lack of understanding of what the plan when in possession is
