Yawn, Harry, eriksen, Lamela even bale all chose to shoot now and again.
Twice I've seen him miss decent chances and for them to be quoted on here as "open goals.
Two defenders and a goalkeeper don't make an open goal.
If he had passed the haters would be claiming he lacked bottle. We better be careful or we could turn him into another soldado.

Ummm not sure where that thinking came from.
But on Soldado, we did not turn Soldado in to anything. He got great support from most Spurs fans.
 
All set up for him now with Kane's injury. As we don't have anyone else to play up front he'll have an extended run in the team, able to play 90 minutes most games, as the focal point in an attack that ended with the man he is replacing winning the golden boot last season.

Was hoping he'd have done a little better by now but there have been flashes of brilliance from him that I've been encouraged by. As has been said before, he is on a different planet to where Kane and Lamela were at this stages of their Spurs careers.
 
I fear the response to him scoring will be: 'well, it was only Gillingham at home'. Same on Saturday vs boro

Here's hoping he shuts up his critics. This early write off is ridiculous

And that is the problem with some fans, they see a young player from another country play in a far more harder league and after seeing him for very little playing time throw doubts on his ability. As i say some fans make you laugh.

Another comparison would be with Mido who scored 2 goals on his debut and we all thought we had hit the jackpot but he only went on to score 12 more goals in Spurs career.

I think he is a more rounder striker than Paul Stewart who could never effectively lead the line

Too much pressure on him. He may miss another sitter but we're in for the long haul here. I don't want him out on his feet midweek. How he does on the weekend and in the CL is more important.

The key IMO for any new player coming in is game time

He now knows he will get some decent game time and potentially a run of 10 or so without interruption (barring a disaster). He can play without fear (ish) knowing he isn't under pressure

Getting 10 minute cameos here and there is limiting his time to perform and until he scores is also putting pressure on (as demonstrated by some of our fans views already on here)

Let's now judge him after the run he is gonna have and reserve opinion until then... That's at least someway to being fair

Its quite normal for a foreign player to take a year to adjust to the PL and living in a different country, so let's judge him after he's had one whole injury free year with us.

Oh, I remember being wildly excited by his goals against Pompey. Even Chivers said something along the lines of Mido's goals being ones he'd be proud of he'd scored them (iirc). Ah, carefree (definitely more naive) times. :)
