Vincent Janssen

I think potentially we could sign this guy and a WF/CF type alongside him - but agree that we arent likely to see 3 out and out CFs in the squad next season
I think you're forgetting about N'Jie. He's essentially that player and will be like a new signing next season....

Fair points from both of you regarding Son & N'jie - however I think both Chadli and Pritchards futures are in the balance at the moment (and of course there are rumours about Son too) so I don't think it's out of the question that we may see one of those out and a replacement brought in

We've currently got 8 AMs for 3 positions. We could easily lose Chadli and Pritchard and not replace them (especially if Chadli won't be covering CF, and if signing a DM is going to allow Mason to move to AM too)

Fair enough if that's what you have chosen to believe GB but I doubt we'd move on any of our WFs without replacing them in the squad, and certainly not if we want to maintain our competitiveness

So assuming we lose Chadli and Pritchard then we would have:
Eriksen, Alli, Lamela. Three first class attacking midfielders who we are lucky to have. After that there is:
Son - up and down first season. Clearly has some promise and is currently cover for Lamela
N'Jie - completely unproven. Is he an attacking midfielder, a centre forward or neither? I wouldn't yet be comfortable with him starting in a PL game.
Onomah - I don't see him as being an effective 7,10 or 11. I think he will be a number 8.
Mason - maybe number 10 would be a better role for him than the 8 role that he tended to play when picked last season?

My opinion here is that other than our first choice 3 and (perhaps) Son, I wouldn't really want to see any of the others starting games for us in the 7, 10, 11 roles if we are playing against anyone other than cannon fodder.

N'Jie may well come good and Mason could prove a revelation at number 10, but we haven't yet seen evidence that this will happen. Another specialist number 10 in the squad would be a wise move I think.

So where is the ITK for this then?

Oh i forgot. . . . it could actually happen.

It has just been updated to reflect recent developments:

Trix:

MB

OM are desperate, we know it and they know it. The delay has been because they have interest from other clubs and are hoping to inflate the price. MB though has told them he wants us and has already point blank knocked back the idea of going to two other clubs.

Asked about Janssen but my buddy hasn't anything on this, reiterated again that he was told early by a good source that MP wanted two more "forwards" this window.

Been enquiries for a lot of our players already but am told again no players MP wants to keep will be sold, period.

This has been backed up by JJetset saying there's 'absolutely no chance!' we'll sign both Janssen and Batshuyai.

Remember when the top 4 used to pride themselves in having 4 top strikers at any time. How things have changed. I liked the 442 era

Haha - yep I remember those days.... Did Man Utd have all of Sherringham, Cole, Yorke and Solksjaer at the club at the same time?

I guess I just have faith in how good injury-free and Pochified Son, Njie, Mason and Onomah will be. Like what happened with Rose, Dembele, Lamela, Dier, Kane and the rest. Poch's record shows we should trust his coaching and the organic growth of existing players.
