Who did Frank call out directly in public?

Is this not all on him saying we had back doored our way into the CL, and that we had not qualified through league position?

Does anyone agree with that?

He's too smart, he implied the players weren't up to it. You obviously love the guy, his football was not working here, that's not his fault the club picked the wrong man, he was nailed to his system which is based on counter attacking and pressing and he couldn't get the players to get it, a clever man would adjust a stubborn man know best.

He was only here 6 months.

I wouldn't say I love him, it didn't work, but he is a manager who deserves respect, he built a decent CV and was a logical appointment. I don't think he was given long enough to show what he could do in what was a hugely difficult situation, I don't think any Spurs manager ever has taken over with us in such a mess.

Think Tudor took us over in a worse mess tbf 🤣

He should have no trouble getting the Liverpool job.

What I'm saying is you've defended the poor football under Ange as being due to injuries, you've defended the poor league performance as being under Ange as being caused again by injuries. Yet you don't consider those factors for Frank. For me that is hypocritical they both suffered from massive injuries. You've made mitigation for the issues Ange had, but you don't accept any for Frank. That's text book hypocritical behaviour. By all means be critical but don't equally. I'll give @Raziel that, he criticises both them equally.

I don't really make any excuses, injuries are what they are. You have to deal with them Ange or Frank neither were able to. Both were let down by the club in terms of reinforcements.

Yes, and the reason I feel entirely comfortable and consistent in doing that is that before the horrendous injuries Ange did actually show the type of football he wanted to play, and the players and fans were on board. There was an amazing start and a good first season to finish 5th, then we started pretty well in the second season, both in terms of results, performances and style of play. And then we suffered an unprecedented crisis. But because the players never lost belief or confidence in what they were doing, we still won a trophy at the end of it.

Frank never showed it. To be generous, the first two games were obviously very good. But basically what is clear that as soon as results didn’t come, there was nothing to fall back on. The players weren’t bought in. And the style and substance of the performances got worse and worse, very quickly. And this was before the worse of the injuries started this season. So that’s why I feel I’m consistent, I’m just calling it like I see it.

I can see that I disagree with @Raziel on Ange’s competence. I don’t think his system was so easily beaten by a long ball. But I can acknowledge he was an uncompromising ideologue which meant that results would suffer if he didn’t have the players to carry off his system. But this is why I think the human experience is interesting and complicated - that belief cost us a bunch of results as he refused to adapt fully and be more pragmatic but it was also probably the reason the players never lost confidence and could finally get over the line to win a trophy.

I also spent a bunch of time before Frank was sacked actually defending his approach. Because I always want things to work out the best for Spurs. I hoped that by focusing on the percentages, eventually the luck would turn our way. And that the way he segmented games into attacking and defensive phases would prove to be intelligent as we started to exploit teams at the right moments.

Unfortunately, now it is the end of the season and we can look back and give a full accounting of what happened, I think Frank was a miserable failure. And a big part of the reason is that De Zerbi showed what was possible. Initiative, positivity, inspiring the confidence of the players, getting the fans back on side, forward passes through the middle! Bentinha seen as assets and not anchors weighing us down.

Frank did a good job at Brentford. We can now say he was an utterly terrible appointment at Spurs. And I will always be fascinated to know how the decision makers justified making an appointment that turned out to be so bad, when so much of it was actually predictable.

Yes I was happy with Frank being honest in his assessment, I don't want BS from a manger and talk of attacking football and the Tottenham way, because that brick doesn't work, 2 tiles in 140 years prove it.

I want pragmatism and realism, I don't need smoke blown up my arse and to be told I'm a special little soldier.

Give it to me straight, like a pear cider made with 100% pears.

Just say it, you enjoy a babycham, no need to be coy or embarrassed about it.
