Vinai Venkatesham - CEO

I guess he would have a PA as well. The role seems a "Chef de cabinet", maybe a bright MBA, but I'd have thought substantial commercial experience would be needed. Certainly don't think it would suit someone who wants to work from home several days a week!

I'd be quite tempted to apply if it pays more than £70k
I’m sure in your head you are already the owner and getting paid millions while fighting the moral war on all fronts sticking it to the Arabs and Russians …

I mean you should apply regardless you would obviously easily get the job and make your demands they would hand you the cash over immediately.

It will pay more than 70, my guess 140-180. He will want an MBA from Harvard, LBS or Insead, who has several years commercial experience and is happy to work 60 to 70 hours a week.

They want someone from the big 4 so a robot who can churn out slides
Always worries me when I see adverts mentioning a consulting background… having worked with all of them now and a few smaller ones they are all bang average at best and brick at really impactful ideas, in my field at least

I wonder - is Donna Cullen's resignation a co-incidence, or is it the new CEO starting to reshape the Board? The fact that there's a new man coming in to lead the business may have prompted Donna to think that a less pressured life might suit well suit her....

Hard to say, and it could just be a personal decision after thirty-odd years at the club.

But either way, I think it bodes well for him, since it's easier for him to have the ear of Levy with DC (and potentially Matt Collecott) leaving. Previous CEO-equivalents, from Munn going back to Paul Barber, probably didn't have that level of access.

The ceo has no say over who's on the board. His starting may have had an effect though. Thinking it's a good time to move on and let the new man do his thing.

Our Board has always seemed like a mix between owner-appointed (or shareholder-endorsed) members and an Executive Committee (Ex-Com). I’d expect the CEO to have a say over the composition of the Ex-Com and downwards with ENIC appointing members of the governance Board. I guess the lines have been blurred to date with Levy being both (part) owner of the club and effectively CEO as well.

yeah the ceo literally is accountable to the board

it can get funky when the owner is the ceo though
