US soldiers *struggle cuddle* shame

Saw this on my Facebook feed today (beware it's pretty graphic). Utterly fudging disgusting..

Nothing new from the Americans. Their soldiers have been committing war crimes and acts of torture for a long time now.

Thats a heinous and disgusting act

Totally agreed. What the hell do these people think they are doing? Besides from obvious depravity of the act itself, why on earth are they taking pictures? Are they totally stupid as well as evil? Hope they go down for a long time.

Just disgraceful.
Beyond words really...makes my blood boil...so many crimes being committed it's impossible to know where to start...

The story is real unfortunately, but the pictures are not. Those pictures have been circulating for a decade and are fake.

Nothing new from people in general unfortunately.

Indeed, especially in warfare. Atrocities have happened throughout our entire history, by people from all races, nations, and religious beliefs and I doubt they'll ever stop. Doesn't matter how civilised a society is, it's always bubbling under the surface. We lose law and order, as much maligned as it is, for a month and it would be chaos and destruction nationwide.

At least if it was British then our government wouldn't tolerate any forms of torture or cover it up.

Do you really believe that? Because I don't doubt for a minute that things go on. I've been told stories of things squaddies got up to in Northern Ireland and I am pretty sure everyone knew about it and turned a blind eye.

Depends what you mean. If you mean our soldiers were going round raping Irish women and killing civilians then I can't see a blind eye being turned. If you mean them torturing an IRA terrorist for information, then I can understand why that would be tolerated. When Andy McNab visited my school he told us some stories, and he told us why we weren't allowed to take photos of him because of what he got up to in Ireland and how his face can't be revealed to the public.

Yeah if only we could be as civilized as the British, who as we all know have never committed any war crimes.

Fake pictures eh? How do you ascertain that Because they're a 'decade' old? Abu Ghraib was in full effect a decade ago.

Are you saying the photos are staged and involve consenting adults, just making them porn? If so, what's your proof?

Are we going to deny that this sort of thing has been taking place?

Also this took about 5 mins on google, should probably check sources before believing what facebook tells you.
2004 - Boston Globe publishes apology for fake 'GI *struggle cuddle*' photos
http://www.wnd.com/2004/05/24614/

The Boston Globe issued an apology today for publishing bogus images of GI gang-rapes that originated from a pornographic website.

The photographs – uncovered by WorldNetDaily as fodder for Arab propaganda – accompanied an article in the Boston paper about local city councilor Chuck Turner, who distributed the graphic pictures Tuesday at a press conference with activist Sadiki Kambon.

Turner told reporters the photos showed U.S. soldiers raping Iraqi women, asserting, “The American people have a right and responsibility to see the pictures.”

The Globe’s statement today, listed as an “editor’s note,” merely says the photographs failed to meet “Globe standards” and had not been authenticated.

The paper chose not to inform readers its editorial department has known for the past 24 hours the photos were fake images taken from the pornographic website “Sex in War.” In fact, WND revealed the true source of the photos at the request of the Globe via e-mail, and Globe reporter Donovan Slack indicated yesterday both of her editors, as well as the president of the Globe’s parent New York Times Co., were aware of the controversy.

From an old porno, although I think the story itself is based on a very real evernt. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahmudiyah_killings

As I thought you're more interested in voicing your opinion than entering into any form of discussion. You didn't even read my entire post did you?

As for your patronising response I'll play along.

Yes they are fake pictures. Maybe you're too young to remember but there was a massive storm about these pictures in the media in 2003, with several media sources using the footage (it was actually video, not just pictures). It then transpired it was from a porn site.

Am I going to deny this sort of things takes place? After I already said in the post you replied to that "The story is real unfortunately"? What do you think?

Yes, *struggle cuddle* did take place. Men are men. Doesn't matter what race, nationality, religion they are and *struggle cuddle* has always happened during warfare or from the armed forces and will continue to do so. All we can do is punish those that are caught, but if ordered to do so there would be a lot more rapes by soldiers. America bashing is common place as they're the biggest, therefore easiest, target and also have set themselves up on a moral high ground. But the truth is NATO forces are "relatively" well behaved compared to most other armed forces around the world simply because the Western world doesn't tolerate *struggle cuddle*.

The pictures might be fake but unfortunately the incident is understandable. When you send off hundreds of thousands of young men to a foreign country for years for no reason and consistently portray the other side as inferior and sub human to your side, its not too much of a leap to exhibit such behaviour to fully exert all forms of dominance over the people.

I know Iraqis who left before 2003 and Iraqis who left after, in successive stages, Shia, Sunni and Christian. They're all in agreement on only 2 things. Things were better under Saddam (even those who had to run away because Saddam and his police were hunting them and their family down) and that this kind of behaviour, war crimes one would venture to call it (*struggle cuddle*, murder, torture, fake executions etc), wasn't all that rare from NATO forces, who'd come to show the Iraqis what freedom really tasted like.

We really are a rather vile species aren't we?

Sad to read that. The limited amount of Iraqi's I have spoken to hated Saddam, but also never went back home after he was toppled.

We aren't a vile species, we are a species. Brutality is part of nature, and yet some people seem determined to deny the obvious when it comes to the human race.

I don't think war comes into it much. *struggle cuddle* happens outside of war also. I think when you get groups of young men together the inevitable can happen, especially with them encouraging each other on. The amount of gang rapes that take place in London is under reported and shocking. We need to be looking at our problems at home more than abroad.

As for Iraq, it's old news. Never thought we should have got involved in the first place. We are not the world's police force and I don't subscribe to the brotherhood of man. You look after your own and what happens to everyone else happens for the good and the bad. If they genuinely thought Saddam was a threat, then they were right to go in and take him out but the problem with modern warfare is this ridiculous notion that we should then feel guilty or be responsible for rebuilding the country. I don't subscribe to needless cruelty towards any living thing, but you protect your own and if that means others suffer then so be it. I don't feel guilty for thinking or believing that.

But there is little doubt in my mind that Blair knew there was no WMD, Robin Cook certainly had access to the evidence and didn't believe it, and as such there was no reason to go in there at all. Even if we had proof that Saddam was killing thousands of his own people a day we should simply have stayed away because it simply isn't our business to be involved.
