Underrated

Raoul Duke

Gordon Durie
I often stumble upon things that I should have been familiar with, that's really good. Maybe someone will reply to this thread...

My underrated:

Music: The Zombies - Odessey & Oracle (1968)

Movie: Wild at Heart

TV: Firefly

Music: Sneaky Sound System
Film: Cool Runnings
TV: Good Wife

Cool Runnings underrated?! Really?!

Music: Lighthouse Family. Up there with Zeppelin and the likes in my opinion. Either them or a Liverpool based band called Coffee and Cakes for Funerals
Film: Dredd
TV: Coupling

Yep I'd agree with that one actually, for a film that you put down as just a popular 8/10 comedy, I'd say I often hear people say how brilliant it is.

A decent watch with a bit of humour, history, morals, sport. And the whole mysterious subplot of Sanka's egg as well...

How dare you diss Cool Runnings - how very dare you.

Chicken Badge here gets it - Chicken Badge - youre the first person who has said exactly what ive been saying all along. Its the whole story behind it - whilst its a comedy its actually more than that.

anyways Lighthouse family? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH ;)

Music: The New Radicals, The Bees...Air & Chicane (not sure the last two are underrated, I thought people rated them both but as Chicane has previously been mentioned, I'll add it again.)
Films: Scott Pilgrim, Local Heron
TV: Green Wing,

I'm sure that I'm missing a LOT but those are my early entries. I could definitely add more movies. I'll try and think of some to come back to add.

I really like Training Day too, but figured it was rated as it was the film for which Washington won his Oscar.

Yeah I did consider this, but Social Network won 3 oscars with more nominated and I'm pretty sure there are a few Emmy winners in some of those TV choices.

If nothing else it's made me think how much I want to watch Training Day. :p

Hey! Bill Forsyth won a Best Director BAFTA for Local Heron as well!! ;)

Raises the question, what is the definition of underrated? How can you decide what is underrated, and what isn't?

You're right about my Local Heron, but it wasn't a soaring success. The film wasn't in the top 50 Box Office films in the US for that year. I tried to find the British Box Office figures, as I thought those might give a clue to the film's success but couldn't find them.
