And decides that all yellow cards from the beginning of the CL and Europa league group stage will expire on completion of the quarter-finals. Bookings will therefore not be carried forward to the semi-finals, the Emergency panel decides.

Thanks to this urgent and important decision from the Emergency panel, players can now dive, feign injury, lunge studs first into tackles and cheat their teams into the semi-finals of the CL and Europa League, knowing the yellow cards they might pick up in the process, won't stop their participation in a potential final. I'm sure the Emergency panel will be thanked by the likes of Robben, Suarez, Pepe and Sergio Ramos for this important decision.

Personally I'm glad to see how the Emergency panel are tackling one of the really big problems in world football today. Thank you, Emergency panel!

Reasonable decision, but not exclusively a positive.

Thought we saw some signs at the World Cup that the quarter finals and to some extent semi-finals were a bit more nasty than previously.

Essentially if you're into the quarter finals without being one card away from a ban you can pick up another two in those two games and be fine. Essentially this encourages cynical and dirty play. The trade off of seeing all the best players in the final might compensate for this, but not by much for me.
