There is a huge problem with loan players arriving at club 5 games into their season and missing out on their pre season.
It's usually after Christmas until they even get a chance.
Parrott will be able to integrate himself into the squad early and be on the same level as the rest.

Personally I have the feeling he was promised a loan this season when he signed the contract. He is desperate to get some minutes and to get into the Ireland team before the likes of Aaron Connolly, Adam Idah or Michael Obafemi make the spot their own under the new manager(who was his u21 manager).

Looks like it came down to a meeting between Parrott and Millwall manager Gary Rowett. Parrott has been in Dublin since monday. So this meeting didnt take place this week. This has probably been long in can.

I was reading an interview with Rowett about this loan signing. He was speaking about the depth of detail and involvement for even a loan signing, let alone a permanent transfer. They had at least two meetings with Troy, took at least ten days thrashing out the minutae of the deal with Spurs and he said that there's so much work behind the scenes to get these deals done. He was careful to say these deals are not done in 2 or 3 days but actually take 4-6 weeks

Interesting to hear that and it makes a lot of sense. Selling a player, it’s all about the club getting the best deal financially and once the deal is done, the player is gone and that’s it. But loaning out a player is handing over day to day responsibility for a club asset and it follows that there would be a huge amount of detail and dos and don’ts to be ironed out. Playing time, training regimes, time back at Spurs, oversight by/involvement of Spurs staff, what happens if injured, wages, insurance, right to recall, discipline, marketing, protecting Spurs brand, and probably lots of other things that don’t immediately spring to mind.

It would increase our options, and his chances of playing, if he does play wide for Millwall and looks good.
 
I haven't seen too much to suggest he would be suited to playing wide, so that's a little surprising.
