Troy Parrott

This is now fate, if he is not looked at as a better alternative to Lucas then he will never get a look in.

I rate Lucas highly but not as a striker.

You can't really say he'll never get a look in. Not many 17/18 year old do to be honest, especially if the manager doesn't think they're ready.

When we have no one else in his position then why not? Its called a gamble, United done it with 2 of their young strikers even when they didn’t need to and that paid off. The only person that knows if they are ready is Parrot, we made similar gambles with much more experienced strikers and look what happened.

We never take risks with youngster, they always have to be gradually put in and then they end up being flogged anyway. Apart from Tanganga, Kane and Winks how many academy players have come through the last 10 years that have not been sold off? Skip seems to have gone backwards and wouldn’t surprise me if he doesn’t end up in the Championship for the rest of his career.

My point is we have always tried to protect the kids and wait for them to be ready and 9/10 they were not good enough, so whats the harm in chucking a youngster in when we desperately need a player in that position? He has played under 23’s football and International football so its not like he is going into the unknown.

And what makes you think he thinks he's ready?

Tanganga played after both he and Jose thought he was ready

He's also two years older than Parrott. Tanganga is only a couple of months younger than Gedson.

The risk with rushing youngsters is that you put them under too much pressure, too early and they are unable to cope with it. Every player is different in this regard, which is why we have to trust the manager.

How do you get match fitness without matches? How do you get experience without experiences?

I'm prepared to believe the coaches who say he isn't ready(though I have always favoured sink or swim) but for him to not even be playing under 23 matches is stupid.

We should have learnt from WP and I imagine Skipp is going the same way.

Couldn't disagree more with the bolded bit. Football is littered with players who thought they were ready earlier than they were. If Parrott is anything like most people, he will think he's ready. That doesn't mean he is right.

I'd trust the guy with almost 20 years management experience at the highest level to judge whether someone is ready or not.

Pathetic ain't it. We are really trying to ruin our youth players aren't we.

I think that this has got better under Mourinho, all of the academy players over 20 have now been sold or are out on loan. That means that we've promoted a lot of U18s to the U23 squad. I hope that Skipp and Parrott get good loans next season and get a seasons football under their belts.

Playing for the academy, loans and controlled first team exposure but trying to limit the weight of expectation. Ferguson used to be excellent at giving a young player a couple of games and then dropping them for a while so that they could work on things on the training ground.

Yeah it has got better I agree. But we have had matches when neither were on the bench and did not play under 23 either that weekend.

Scoring goals is the hardest job in football, expecting a young boy with virtually no experience against men to do it is an impossible ask, it might happen in kids comics, Hollywood movies and on computer games but rarely in real life. Any one who has seen the boy knows he has potential but, it's too soon.

And this.

If we are in control of a game with 15_20 minutes to go he could maybe get a run out, but we are not in that position.

The kid has just turned 18 and playing him now could do more harm then good in a side that is really not hitting top form. Jose is the manager and if he feels that he is not ready then he knows far more then we do.
