He's left-footed, and although it *is* a Youtube video, this looks pretty damn impressive - it's not just his pace and his defensive tenacity, but his skills on the ball that have me interested. He's very adept on the ball, and sprays around long passes with surprising ease.


Apparently, he also has a 40m euro release clause, which means he'd likely be cheaper than Ake. The only downside that's immediately apparent to me is his height - he's a shade over 6 feet, but he's still a little shorter than all of Toby, Sanchez and (especially) Verts. Not sure how that affects his aerial prowess, or if it has any effect at all, but worth nothing.

On the whole, he seems very talented. Poch knows centre-backs. Poch knows Espanyol inside out. Worth checking out, imo.

SPURS EYE HULL'S BOWEN

Tottenham may need to part with at least £20m if they hope to land Hull City’s young winger Jarrod Bowen this month, Sky Sports Newsunderstands.

The Tigers are aware that Spurs scouts have been watching Bowen closely in recent matches along with a number of other Premier League clubs - but they are not under any pressure to sell their stand-out star.

Sky Sports News understands Burnley are another club on the hunt for wingers in the January window, and have also sent scouts to watch the 22-year-old at the KCOM Stadium.





CHELSEA have accepted an £18million bid from Wolves for striker Tammy Abraham.

The England striker has been targeted by Wolves to bolster their attack after an impressive first half of the season on their return to the top flight.

The deal would see Abraham cut short his season-long loan move in order to finally get a permanent move to a Premier League club.

It is a huge statement from Wolves who will begin speaking to about the 21-year-old to negotiate personal terms before the weekend.

Abraham has made a major impact during his time at Villa after struggling during a season on loan at Swansea last season.

The Chelsea academy product has struck 16 goals in 20 appearances for the Championship club.

He is currently in a rich vein of form which has seen him hit 12 goals in his last 10 matches to help Dean Smith's side move back into play-off contention after a poor start to the campaign.

Wolves think Abraham can add extra to their attack as they look to reach Europe in their first season back in the top flight.


It is a massive blow for Villa who thought that their package for Abraham would keep him happy to stay in their promotion campaign.

Abraham is on big goals and win bonuses plus a potential jackpot sum if Villa go up - on top of his £55,000-a-week salary.

But Wolves are offering top flight football now and the chance to be part of their growth over the next few seasons.

Abraham made just two substitute appearances for Chelsea having seen his path to first team opportunities limited.

He enjoyed a dazzling spell on loan at Bristol City in the 2016-17 campaign, form which persuaded Swansea to take him the following year but the forward struggled in a side which was eventually relegated.

But he still did enough to earn a call-up for two senior England appearances in the friendly draws with Germany and Brazil.


Llorente out and Abraham in, I wouldnt mind at all.

He is a young player, who is learning. As memory serves he didnt do terribly in a very poor team.

Villa are actually playing football now and he is unsurprisingly thriving. I think the lad has talent, is homegrown, and a steal at £18m

I generally agree. Son has proven the most capable back up and if thats how we proceed Ive no complaint.

My post was more in response to those convinced we need another striker.

Personally my priority is 100% CM

I disagree. Ignoring the distinction in Son's role, we have 6 players (Kane, Son, Dele, Lamela, Moura, Eriksen) covering 4 positions, along with a benchwarmer in Llorente plus the complete deadwood of Janssen and GKN

CM is the priority, but I definitely think we need a 7th player of whatever the right description is (a Son-like player if you ask me) to cover the 4 attacking positions before we allow Llorente to do. Is you also believe the 2-player-per-position mantra, we'd still be one short

Fair enough, its not that I don’t want a target man on the bench but we have 2 that have always been third choice for the role, so not sure that’s the best use of our resources or Poch can make a compelling argument to spend money in that area.

Options 7,8 and 9 have all not worked out and hopefully will be gone in this window or by the summer, perhaps replaced by a quality AM who can play CF as there’s not enough game time for a pure number 9 to stay sharp.

If funds need to be raised by sales / freeing up wages and Llorente is the only one getting interest then I say take the cash and get a CM, I don’t think Poch would start him in a proper game unless Kane, Son and Moura were all out!

The question is are they third choice because they don't fit in. If we had someone more suited then they may have been given more minutes, Poch may want to play someone else but feels that the team would suffer if he did. For instance if we were in a City style situation and had Jesus as back up then I think the situation would be a lot different.

Obviously the point is moot, to get decent back up would be expensive and they'd know they likely wouldn't play many games. We'd need someone who could play in attack or up front like Son so maybe someone like Martial.

He also got us 2 points against Burnley in a similar manner.

Of all the deadwood, he's actually the one I see still has a use. We have no one else who can cause that panic in a deep-sitting defence trying to cling on for the last 5 minutes.

I have not seen a lot of him to be honest but i have heard his name mentioned as a suggestion for our M/F, so i watched him when we played Everton and to be honest he was poor. Now i know you can not judge a player on one viewing but nothing about his game stood out.
 
Can’t help but feel that having created Harry Kane ourselves and moulded him to fit into the pinnacle focus point of our attack, the logical step in ‘Poch-world’ is to mould an understudy in Troy and/or Sterling, also from the youth academy.

The 3rd place striker role (after Son), limits chances for integrating into our system and as such is a dead end for any external signing.

(Soldado, Adebayor, Jansen & Llorente have all struggled to be effective without weekly exposure to first team minutes in the system)

The risk is zero in bringing the academy players though, and it saves on wages, agents & transfer fees!

Abraham has a lot more going for him than Bamford ever did.

I dont know that he'll make a top striker one day, but certainly couldnt say he wont.

He is young, is developing, and has some good attributes to work with - at £18m in todays market he is a steal.

Yes my thoughts too. He was tidy but it was all a bit meh. And it was much the same the last time I watched him.

In hindsight, I think we got him too late in his career but I did expect better from him. I don't think it helped that we used him like Kane MkII rather than an out and out target man.

If there is an offer for him I'd take it and put it towards some young striker more Kane like in his style. I like what I have seen of Brereton who was at Forest now Blackburn (not sure how that is working out).
