Transfer Tittle-Tattle

"Tottenham and Everton are eyeing Real Betis' Argentina central midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, 23. (Sun)"

I know it's from a brick newspaper, but Lo Celso looks like a hell of a player and exactly what we need in MF.

Didn't PSG sell him to Betis for peanuts a few months ago? Surely if we were interested, we'd've just used our relationship with PSG to get him in January?

I'm not sure Poch is the stumbling block - more concerned about prices which Levy asks for players. Given we've gone through at least two windows without being able to offload GKN and Janssen despite it being clear that they dont have a future at the club, it suggests that we're asking too high a price

Or the players were/are asking for to much in wages, that has been suggested by some.

I see this as a major problem in our game, too many club have got tv money burning a hole in their pocket and are paying far too high salaries to entice players, when the move doesn't work out these players are virtually impossible to off load. West Ham are a classic case.

I would agree, the game is suffering for the influx of cash and it is only going to get worse. Mores the pity.

Not just West Ham.

Look at the wage bills at Arsenal and Liverpool

The money Leicester offered Vardy/Morgan and co.

Even Utd with Sanchez/Pogba.

Have to assume Wolves were paying (relative) big money to get all of Jorge Mendes business.

Everton have been throwing big money at players (wonder what Walcott was offered?)

Palace gave Benteke £100k+ a week, Zaha too and Pardew famously broke the bank on Cabaye...

Its endemic through the league IMHO.

I just mentioned West Ham as you write there are far too many clubs doing it rather than giving young players a chance. I said to my son when we went to the Huddersfield game that their team was made up of cheap foreign buys who will do no good for the club in the long run.

Yup, looks like the took up the buy option, so they could flip him for double that in the summer. PSG had no way to get him back once the loan went through.

As far as know, Lo Celso is very much a deep-lying, controller type midfielder who does a lot of the progressive passing and tackling that Dembele did. A lot of dribbles, a lot of forward passing, and a brickton of tackles. Just feels like the perfect profile for the Moussa replacement we've been lacking. Plus, unlike Dembele, he seems to have a bit of an eye for goal. Feel like he seems like the kind of versatile player who Poch loves.

I'm obviously not an expert on him or anything, but he seems to be an exciting shout for our CM problem. You can read more about him here, https://www.goal.com/en-us/news/mid...o-has-exploded-as-/1wlebkf5rnal51pgx448f9ph0u

Anyone know anything about him?

Wales forward Gareth Bale, 29, was told he is not wanted at Real Madrid in a face-to-face meeting with coach Zinedine Zidane, but remains adamant he wants to stay at the club. (Mail)
Sounds like a ‘you had better give me a free transfer and pay up a decent amount of my contract then’ type response from Bale.

Napoli's former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has hinted at a move for Mexico international winger Hirving Lozano, 23, who has been linked with Manchester United. (Calciomercato)

I really liked this lad in the world cup, would love it if we were interested. Was a bit of a diving brick in the first game against us in the CL but much improved in the second. Potentially one hell of a player...
I thought he looked very lightweight in PSVs games against us. It is clear he has talent but I think he is 50-50 in terms of whether he would handle the physicality of our league.g

Ancelotti has also refused to rule out a move for Tottenham defender Kieran Trippier, 28, after the England international's wife was reportedly spotted looking for schools in Naples. (Talksport)
How much would people take for Trippier? £25 million upwards?

French winger Anthony Martial, 23, faces a battle to convince Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he has a long-term future at Manchester United. (Mail)

Solskjaer will listen to offers for Martial because of his bad attitude in training. (Sun)

Martial's management agency has taken to Instagram to defend the forward's record at Manchester United amid criticism of his Old Trafford form. (Manchester Evening News)

Will we go back in AGAIN?
I hope so, but think he will be priced too high. Him, Son and Kane would be three great options up front, especially 2 of them or even all 3 could play together with Kane able to play as a 9 or 10, Martial as a 9 or 11 and Son as a 9, 7 or 11. I reckon Martial will either end up at PSG or Atletico Madrid.

Bournemouth and Scotland winger Ryan Fraser is open to offers from other clubs with Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea and Saudi Sportswashing Machine reportedly keen on the 25-year-old. (Mail)

Absolutely no interest from me
I didn’t notice him at the weekend but his numbers have been good this season.

DYBALA CLOSE TO LEAVING JUVE

Pablo Dybala is reportedly close to leaving Italian giants Juventusand Manchester United could be poised to pounce, according to Calcio Mercato.

The fee for the Argentinian would reportedly be close to the an eye-watering €100 million (£85 million) with Bayern Munich also interested.

Dybala has netted the second-most goals for the Turin club this season, striking 10 times as well as chipping in with four assists.
One of the players in the game that I just love to watch. I hope that Man Utd don’t get him.

And yet there has been no sign of interest.

Janssen has had one good season in Holland, and it was a Turkish team (name escapes me) that actually wanted him on loan, where he hardly pulled up any trees...

NKoudou got a loan to Burnley where, once again, no real impression was made.

From the outside - who will even want them!?

NKoudou managed a loan back in France, hopefully that does enough to earn him a move.

Janssen? Who the hell knows? I wouldnt be at all surprised at another loan with the hope of it generating a move.

Last summer? I can completely understand why they were so difficult to shift, and I dont think its simply that we were asking for to high a fee.
The problem is that wages in England are bigger than anywhere else. For,example Ajax’s wage bill is, I think, smaller than Burnley’s. The only clubs who can afford their wages are the top clubs in the bigger leagues (none of whom will players). If we really want them gone then we’ll probably have to loan them and subsidise their wages or give them free transfers and pay up a portion of their contracts. I would prefer the former option as at least there is some chance of them doing well and generating at least some interest.

I like Janssen. Has echoes of Soldado whom I always sympathised with as well.

He works hard, you can see he is trying, and I think you can see he has the potential ... but it just doesnt work. Bit of a hard luck tale but I do feel for him.

I think, in accounting terms at least, we can virtually give them both away without a loss. Their fees would have been written down significantly by now.

Though, Levy still likes to make a buck and I expect he will need to temper this urge.

Though, honestly, I just think there wont be much interest. In Janssen especially, perhaps Nkoudou has done well in France?

I do wonder if a loan somewhere like Sheffield Utd might work for him, they have ageing forwards and may be interested in strengthening...
I always wondered why people liked Soldado. He was absolutely terrible. He even bottled out of taking penalties from then on after he missed one against Emirates Marketing Project.

Lo Celso looks like he would complement Dele very well if they played as a pair of #8's if the DM was someone more in the Carrick/Xabi Alonso mould. That's also if we play with a 3 man midfield. Were we playing in a 4231 with someone like N'Dombele (throwing this name out as he's been linked), then Lo Celso would imo be in competition with Dele.

The hype around Ndombele seems to have cooled over the course of the last 6-12 months....I felt before that he would be out of our price range but now starting to think ht might be getable....

Levy and Aulas have apparently become good friends too. Them robbing us for Njie presumably repaired the damage of us robbing them for Lloris.

I think he’s still highly rated but where would he go?

If he wants CL football he won’t go to United and possibly Arsenal - can Arsenal even afford the wages?

Chelsea can’t

Real are spunking millions on attackers

Emirates Marketing Project are struggling with HGP

That only leaves Us/Barca/Juve/PSG

Lots of ifs and buts in that of course.

Munich seem to be spending big this summer - could do with a MF.
