Transfer Tittle-Tattle

Disagree again. I probably have been a bit harsh, but for me he didn't take to the premier league well at all. Looked underwhelming most times I saw him play.

I would want to see massive progression before he was anywhere near our starting line up.

I can agree that Poch would be the right coach for him, but I think myself and others are right to be a little sceptical.

If it was for 10-15 mil, it's worth a punt.

Gomes has had a good season (1 goal and 1 assist by the way), is 25, and you plead that he deserves time and hasnt hit his peak.

Sessegnon has had a good season, at 18, and you dont think he has shown enough to warrant anything other than a bargain punt.

Something doesnt add up there mate, I have to say.

I think Sessegnon, at 18 (really needs emphasis), has looked good. He hasnt looked physically out of his depth, has played well and contributed a lot to a struggling team. All while dealing with the turmoil at the club. At 18. Lets not forget the season prior he had 16 goals, and 8 assists the year before while being a key player in getting Fulham through the play offs (against Derby and Villa) in an extremely competitive division.

If that doesnt show the lad has big potential I dont know what does.

He's worth no more than what we paid for Dele Alli and is as speculative a purchase.

De Ligt agrees deal with Barcelona - reports
Matthijs de Ligt has already agreed figures on a deal to join Barcelonathis summer, according to reports from Spain.

The Holland international is a Premier League target, with both Manchester United and Liverpool being linked with the centre-back in recent weeks.

But the Red Devils are concerned about the defender’s possible weight gain, as revealed by Mirror Sport, while Liverpool already have a number of top quality centre-backs on their books including Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.

This has left the door open for Barcelona, who have already signed De Ligt’s Ajax team-mate Frenkie de Jong for £67million ahead of the window opening.

Mirror

...Another player on United's radar this summer is PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot, who has been frozen out by the French champions and not played since December.

Rabiot has been made an outcast by the PSG hierarchy for refusing to sign a new deal and will be able to leave this summer for free, with Juventus and Chelsea also assessing him.

The 23-year-old was set to join Barcelona , but that deal fell through due to his £175,000-a-week wage demands and signing-on fee of around £10m as a free agent.

Barca instead turned their attention to Ajax midfielder Frenkie De Jong, who they signed for £75m in January.

But United would be able to meet those figures, with Solskajer and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward now deciding whether to make a formal move for the France star.

I like the look of Rabiot. Apparently his sacked his mum (agent) in Jan after she balls up the Barca move, so its unclear now whether it was he or she making the high demands etc.

One I expect us to be interested in, as we have had for a while, but also one I would not be at all surprised to see Utd through buckets of cash at.

Question is, would that be enough for him to go to a Europa team?

A good player but I think he's trouble, poor attitude. He's talked about leaving for years, had a strop about the France world cup squad and is always mouthing off in the media (or his agents are). I don't think he'd fit into a squad like ours.

This is the thing, is he?

Sounds a lot like his mother was the issue, particularly (possibly!) with regard to the high demands etc. And she has gone now.

And, ultimatley, Im not sure I take issue with it.

When you are home grown at a club, highly rated, and they want you on a long deal - and then offer you peanuts compared to what they pay all their expensive signings - is it so wrong to push for more?

The France thing, very stroppy - yes, but I do admire that he feels he should have been in the squad, and if the manager didnt agree then fudge him :D

Not entirely professional, of course, but he knows he is good and knows his value, and I kind of like that.

As to fitting in, remember what everyone said about Aurier? Who really knows how these things will pan out.

Im far from expert on Rabiot, but I like what Ive seen and I think its clear there is interest from us. Im just trying to point out a lot of the arguments made against players based on headlines dont always stack up...

The Sun has claimed that Spurs are considering the possibility of a loan swoop for Bale, having ruled out a permanent deal for their former hero.

Bale earns around £600,000 a week at Madrid, and Spurs’ strict wage structure means it’s unlikely they’d be able to match his current wage demands.

However Real are willing to accept any offer in which a club would pay £250,000, along with a £10m loan fee for the season.

I'd very much imagine the views of Lloris, Sissoko, Aurier and Moura would be canvassed to inform any decision

Drop the loan fee and lets do it! Would work out £15 million to have Bale. Imagine him, Son and Kane as a front three the opposition would be bricking it!

All we need now is for Bale to tell Madrid that the only club he will go to is Spurs and we can get a deal done.

I think it would be more like a lamela Bale partnership in the treatment room.

If there is no fee and we cover 100k of the wages then sure, I personally don’t think hes up to the fitness levels needed.

Window opens on Thurs...he can come to Madrid on a jolly!

How cool would it be, as a 19 year old kid, signing a big deal at a big club, being shown around the state of the art training complex, the world class stadium, and then immediately being in the stands watching them at the CL final?

Its the sort of thing that would leave an impression!

Bale for a season would cost £10m + maybe 48 weeks x £250k = £22m total.

The issue is it will only ever be a one season stopgap. If he plays well he will be off to United on full wages.

I'm pretty sure we have first refusal on Bale. I think this includes loans too.

I’m not convinced that bringing Bale in on a season’s loan would fit well with Poch’s remarks about beginning to rebuild in the close season, and embarking on a new project/phase. It feels too short term, rather than the long-term planning Poch wants, never mind the impact of his wages on other players.
