Transfer speculation

Just seen that Jan Kirchoff at Sunderland is out of contract. I think I would take him, DM/CB who has actually looked good in midfield for a really poor side. Had a nightmare against us on his debut last season but when I've watched him since he has looked decent.

So hope Atletico don't have their transfer ban overturned, would desperately want us to go for Lacazette. I think we need only 2-3 players with some outs and one of them really needs to catch the imagination imo.

We have absolutely zero chance of getting Lacazette. He'd cost £50m and want £200k wages

You might be fairly close with the fee although I think lower with 2 years left but 200k per week? Not a chance in hell whatsoever. He is expected to Atletico and they will not pay him even half of that. If we were willing to pay £40m we could get him imo. The fee would be instalments anyway so that isn't a massive issue but its getting him to accept wages in line with the rest of the top earners. All depends what he wants for his career.

I bet Levy has a 50% sell on clause.

Swansea "We want 25mil"
Levy "That means you would owe us 12.5 mil and we owe you 12.5mil"
Swansea "Um ....OK"
Levy "So that 12.5mil you owe us, just put that against the 12.5mil we owe you and call it quits."
Swansea " Um....seems fair."

£25m for a player that we sold for £7m or so definitely sounds Levy like.

I was just thinking that.

The most anti levy deal possible

I rate siggi, but I don't really see what has changed with him since we sold him, he's always been great at set pieces/looked good at Swansea.

Saying that - it would be a massive upgrade to our options.

I imagine given the choice of us or Everton he would go to Everton - just because it didn't really work out here before.

we should also get Llorente.

Good player but would only ever be cover for Eriksen rather than a first choice, and exacerbates the lack of pace our attacking players have. Priority for signings in positions behind the CF are someone with some pace or genuine skill and ability to beat a man

He also turns 28 in September, and don't see us paying £25m for someone of that age who isn't a first choice player

He should not be aiming to sit on the bench. We will be in 4 competitions and there will be lots of matches to go round.
I understand your point but he effectively will be a backup player whatever way you dress it up. Rotating full backs is more a physical necessity rather than a tactical one. Sure he will get a fair number of games but Eriksen will start more than not especially in the important matches. In saying that I'd love him back, I thought we were a little too hasty in moving him on, but I can't see him wanting to come.

We are now at a stage where we need to improve our team and bring back Sigurdsson would not do that, he could be a bench player who replaces Eriksen in matches but he's no starter in that role, He's not as fit, his movement isn't as good, his first touch is average and he slows play down. He's playing well in a team where their expectations are far lower than ours and teams don't park the bus against them. He's a nice player but we've moved on.

Sigurdsson is an immediate squad upgrade, but he never did play for Poch, so there will still be that period of time where he acclimatises himself to the system. I'm not 100% convinced he's who we should be looking at (nor is Barkley for that matter), as I'd prefer someone younger who is going to develop further.

Apparently he has run the furthest of all players in the PL - Eriksen second behind him.
So effort won't be something that needs to be instilled.
