Transfer Predictions

Feels to me like nothing's going to happen now till deadline day, or close to it, when it comes time to lay the cards on the table.
Put up or shut up time.
Levy time.

I think it would be better than we could have imagined. It's getting what seems to be our 4 first choice targets. And leaving right back as the only position with any question marks over it.

I think selling Nkoudou, Wanayama and probably most of Rose, 2CV, Onomah and Edwards in the next week is still important too - Poch needs the harmony of his tight fully-contributing 25 man squad.
I agree on the incomings. I don’t see the point in selling Rose though. Doing that would make the first team weaker IMO. Also not sure it is worth selling Wanyama. If the stories about him being unlikely to be able to pass a medical are true then for the money we’d get we might as well keep him as cover for CM/CH. if they’re not true and he is fit and could pass a medical then we might as well keep him as fit player and sell Dier who isn’t as good as him.

Dier has put on a lot of weight since that first season. Is probably muscle but like with Lukaku I don't think it aids him particularly.

And Dier can cover at a push too. Did well there in first season.
As has been said by a few people, we have loads of options there, but none are particularly great. Stop gaps at best really. The specialist RB’s we have are underwhelming or injury prone and just not up to it. If we don’t buy there it would be a glaring weakness in our first team.

This coming from a massive Foyth (and Dier) fan, but pace would kill us.

As pre season has shown.

Has anyone looked at how our home-grown/overseas situation is now looking? Janssen, Llorente and Vorm have gone, replaced by 1 overseas player in TN. Do we need another player (eg Wanyama) to leave in order to include GLC or Fernandes or are we now ok?

We were always OK. Our home-grown situation allows for as many foreign players as we could feasibly want - up to five, or more if we add some more HG players as well.

At present ,we have a squad littered with raw kids from the academy, all of whom contribute to our HG numbers if they are included in the official squad list (they don't have to be, but they *can* be). Just counting off the HG players likely to be included in the squad, we have Winks, Skipp, Alli, Kane, Rose and Walker-Peters. The third GK will be another HG player (probably Whiteman or some other youth GK), and

We have the flexibility. Have no fear on that.

Do we? Isnt it something like 8 out a 25 man squad need to be home grown i.e. you can only have 17 non home grown players? Or do I have it wrong?

I think we have 16 non HG (below), 17 if you include GKN. In which case Fernandes/GLC would take us to our limit and then we leave GKN out if we cant sell him. I might have the rules wrong though....

Lloris
Gazza
Aurier
Davies
Verts
Toby
Foyth
Sanchez
NDombele
Sissoko
Wanyama
Dier(?)
Moura
Lamela
Eriksen
Son

No your correct

So do we reckon a window of Clarke, Ndombele, Lo Celso and Sessegnon would be satisfactory?

I think if we manage those incomings and keep hold of a motivated Eriksen, we should be right as rain.
That would be a more than decent window. I keep forgetting about Clarke. Even better if Eriksen signs a new contract.

Well, if we have a player in Tennessee, that's definitely one overseas slot taken.

IN: Lo Celso (or Bruno), Sess
OUT: Eriksen, Onomah, Edwards, CCV (loan), GKN

Feeling quite confident about those two ins. And also pretty confident that this is a better team than last year if we make these moves.

The only thing I’m not sure on is whether they’ll try a surprise late move to bring in a right back (Atal) if the Foyth injury is bad, then try to sell Serge in the last few weeks of the European window.
