How do you figure that? Arsenal and Chelsea are both in decent form. I think we really do need to win all our home games.
The only problem is, I can't see Van Persie slowing down at all. He's been winning them games single handedley most of the time.
Arsenal's results are misleading with regards to form. Injury time winners against Saudi Sportswashing Machine (deserved), Liverpool (undeserved), Sunderland.
Hammered Blackburn sure, but only a draw at Bolton. Have to hand it to them for a good win against us, but how much of that was due to their tactical genius and our tactical suicide? So no, I don't buy the notion that they are on some amazing unbeatable form, they will drop plenty of points no worries. Van Persie has been prolific, but actually there have been plenty of games this season when he's not been enough.
Chelsea? Their last 6 games in the Premiership are 1-0 wins at home to Stoke and Sunderland, losing at West Brom and Everton, drawing at Swansea and at home to Man U. How in this world is that decent form? No real manager, no even worse than that, they have a unproven caretaker and a big mouthed pretender lurking in the background. They are all over the place there, and I tell you what, they are there for the taking this Saturday.
Those two teams are catching us purely because we have had a terrible run of results in three consecutive games. We're making them look good. No way is the way they are doing things right now comparable to the football we played earlier this season. Three wonder strikes from Van Persie do not equal the team goals we were scoring (they equal an over-priced move to Sheik City thank you very much). I don't deny Arsenal have found a momentum but I don't think it will take much to knock them off their stride.
For us, it all went wrong at the Emirates, no earlier. All this crap about 1 win in 5 games is misleading, the pattern was that we scraped a credible draw at Liverpool, played damn good football to hammer Saudi Sportswashing Machine, then this current run. But even then, we were terrible against Arsenal but played well all in all against Man U and Everton.
No way of knowing what the atmosphere will be like tomorrow. I'm going. Will feel eerie going there for the first time since what happened to Muamba, but we desperately need a win and I actually think the fans will be really up for it.
I think the fans will get right behind the team. I think it will be a good atmosphere, not hostile, but I think there will be plenty of noise. If Defoe or VDV for example seem to have their head down a bit, I think the crowd will be sympathetic to a degree but I think they will also try to be encouraging and pick them up. But mentally, I think they will get themselves sorted, as strange as it sounds I think they will do it for Muamba. We're at home, we love that pitch and we normally play well there so we need Modric and Parker just to get things ticking, get the tempo set early and get normal service back. It could be a great night at the Lane, not because we might win the match, but our players have so much spirit and play with emotion, you could just see Defoe and VDV putting in the display of their lives.
Come on fellas, if you are going to the game get behind the lads and sing your hearts out for 90 minutes. Everyone needs to step up and be counted tomorrow, will be a big win if we get it.
