And you call yourself a fan? =; ;)

You know that 90% of GG would hate that side right? Playing two DMs is against the Tottenham code of honour apparently.

The girl from My Family usually turns up in the West Stand, she's worth a punt.

Nah. We concede late because we lack the ability, for whatever reason, to maintain possession once the 80-minute mark passes. Parker next to Sandro, with Dembele ahead, would help us retain that possession, and become much tougher to break down, which in turn would allow us to start more attacks with the attacking five of Walker, Lennon, BAE, Bale and Defoe/Ade, with Dembele both bringing the ball forward and concurrently presenting the first line of defense should an attack fail.

Solidity in some cases can lead to attacking play, and I'm sure GG posters are considered and erudite enough to know that. :)

Good post =D>

I also think that tomorrow we should push then back as much as possible; Ashley Williams is susceptible to pressure I think, and can be bullied into conceding dangerous positions, and also is vulnerable in the air imo (I think he's missed having Caulker next to him).

Pushing them back might also make Michu less effective as he's great in the air. has a good shot, but is not the quickest.
They have some pace on the wings and on the counter-attack so we'd have to do it smartly (and hope we aren't playing with a CB pairing of Dawson and Gallas...)

Agree. The new vogue stat - end games at 80 mins and we'd be top - suggests that we could tighten up a bit. One one clean sheet etc. Its not defending that's the problem however, its retaining the ball and taking the game to other team. Belief in the players ability - we are good enough to win mentality, which stops them sitting back and dropping deep. Finally having a few more quality players on the bench to come on after 60-70 mins will help greatly.

After the demoralising defeat to Everton last week, we have to beat Swansea to get back to winning ways. If we want to stay in the race for top 4, we cannot afford to slip in this match. It is not going to be easy as Swansea have been in great form lately, especially their striker Michu. But being at home, we have no reason whatsoever why we cannot win this match.

I think the return of Bale will be crucial for us. Our attack looked toothless without him against Everton. But if Bale is not fit, others like Lennon and Dembele have to lift their game for us. Was really disappointed we lost against Everton even with Dembele playing. Thought Dembele supposed to make us invinsible and hard to beat. But for some reason we looked poor against Everton. Hope Dembele and Sandro put up a better performance against Swansea. If Parker is fit, hope to see him playing some part in this match. I think Parker is better than Sandro when it comes to protecting our defence. I think Parker will help us keep those clean sheets, especially in the last 20 mins of the match.

Adebayor and Defoe were dissappointing against Everton. Hope Defoe will score a goal or two and get back his goal scoring ways. I am still not convinced of Adebayor. But if he is not going to score many goals, atleast hope he will create the goals for Defoe. Dempsey have been in great form lately. Maybe the return of Adebayor puts pressure on him to perform and prove his worth. It will be really usefull for us if Dempsey can continue his recent goal scoring run. Afterall, we bought him to replace VDV who used to score 10-15 goals in the last 2 seasons. Dempsey needs to do more if he wants to reach anywhere near the 10 goal mark.

Have been really disappointed with our defence this season. It seems we just cannot stop conceding goals nowadays. I think we cannot hope to keep a clean sheet until we have Kaboul and Vertonghen in centre defence. Gallas and Caulker are simply too much error prone. It remains to be seen if our defending gets better when Vertonghen plays with either with Gallas or Caulker with the return of BAE. It will be some achievement if we can keep a clean sheet in this match.

The race for top 4 is really tight this season. Only 5 points separate 4th placed Everton and 12th placed Liverpool. So, we cannot afford to feck up now. We have no choice but to win this match. Hopefully we can get a convincing win and go on another winning run.

ANDRE VILLAS-BOAS has named the two stars he believes can do more than most to help Spurs win a Champions League place this season.

He revealed that French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has finally won his battle with American Brad Friedel to be Spurs’ first choice between the sticks.

And although the best Scott Parker can hope for against Swansea this afternoon is a place on the bench, his coach predicted that the England midfielder is the man he believes will ultimately “take Spurs to new heights.”

AVB surprised everyone when he left Lloris on the bench after giving Lyon £10million for him in August and there was speculation that he could make an early exit if he was left there.

But his coach revealed that he has now finally sealed that No 1 spot.

“We have four wonderful goalkeepers, but you have to say that Hugo has won the battle at the moment,” said Villas-Boas.

“It has not been easy for him. There were expectations that he would go straight into the team, but he was very patient.”

The coach did, however, slam the door on the possibility of Friedel returning to his former club, Blackburn, next month. “It would be a mistake to consider that option,” he insisted.

But it is Parker, out all season so far with an Achilles tendon injury, who Villas-Boas is perhaps most looking forward to seeing back in action again, sooner rather than later.

“He has to compete like everyone else, but we recognise the quality of the player. He takes us to another level,” said AVB.

“He has been very influential in the past and we have been very patient to get him back.”

And Parker’s return was enough for the Spurs boss to issue a “hands off” warning to former manager Harry Redknapp amid speculation that the QPR boss is planning a raid to take Parker and Michael Dawson to Loftus Road in January.

“We need cover and we won’t be letting them go. Harry knows these players very well, but they won’t be leaving,” he insisted.

In the meantime Villas-Boas admitted that he may be forced to change his approach this afternoon to counter Swansea’s impressive style – and man of the moment, striker Michu.

He said: “The Spanish League is so different to England, but the power and strength Michu shows in every game is exceptional.

“Michael (Laudrup) knew him very well so perhaps there was less of a risk of bringing a Spanish player over here.

“Swansea are much more European in their approach, so we are going to have to shift a little to counter that.”

Gareth Bale faces a late fitness test on a hamstring injury ahead of the lunchtime showdown and Swans centre-back Ashley Williams admits he would prefer to not see his countryman on the teamsheet.

Williams said: “Gareth’s a mate and I don’t like to see him injured. But for the team, I’d rather he didn’t play because he is world class.”

Bale, linked with an incredible £56million move to Real Madrid last week, proved to be the difference in last season’s corresponding fixture as the flying winger tormented Swansea in a 3-1 success.

If Bale not fit to play against Swansea, can see him being out for 2 or 3 months. That has been the story of our season so far. Players like Kaboul and BAE have been out too long after initially being cleared to play.

If you read what AVB has said, is that he had a good chance of being involved today but he wont be risked, he will be fine for Stoke

Anyone going today? I shall be partaking in a pre match beverage in the Billy Nic.

Really hope we win today after yesterdays results. Stoke done us a big favour so its time we capitalised on that and did our bit... With Stoke next and Villa away, both l9okin like they have found some form, its all the more important we pick up max points

Great point. Maybe Scotty for the last few minutes can be the solution.

Any official team news yet ?

Feeling nervous about this match, as always. Wish this match was yesterday. Now, all the attention and pressure will be on us, since there are only 2 matches today. Hope we will do well to win this match.
