Do not forget a prime Eriksen. I would say that much of Arsenal's rise has been the rise of Ødegård, he lifts the entire team, instills belief and makes developing tactics MUCH easier. He also puts in a good shift defensively, which was Eriksen's primary downside. He's extremely reliable at present, bring him down and Arsenal falls with him. As a Norwegian, I'd rather have him than 5 overhyped Haalands.

So which of the current mega buys struggling at utd and Chelsea do you think we should have wasted money on?
 
It's not the getting bent over to Saudi Sportswashing Machine at St James that is so frustrating - we've seen that story many times over the years. It's that the same issues are occurring that have been for months and we are still no closer to finding the solutions.

The new manager bounce at the start of the season definitely over inflated some people's assessments of both the team and manager. Some were still sure that with the return of our injured players we would rocket back up to title challenging status which was pretty wishful thinking.

Anges philosophy is fun, and ballsy but if he really wants to prove himself a winner in this league he will have to adjust. It's also right to point out it's still only his first season in charge, one which new managers use to find out what they need to about their players.

So whilst going through this poor patch the good thing is he will be identifying the players which need replacing. The bad news is this rebuild might well involve a lot more work than we originally thought. But to be fair, if this is the 'painful' part whilst we have all but sewn up a top 5 position (or at the very least European football) - it's not that bad is it.....

Are you being deliberately dumb? Levy is not the one buying players, save your anger for Scott Munn, the Board Director looking after the strategy of football matters. Sure Levy will have a view on what represents value, or how a deal is structured, but if the footballing team decide to buy, that's what they are there to do.

Given our upcoming run of games, I’m not sure that we have all but sewn up anything.

Are you insane? Of course Levy is the one that decides how much money we want to spend on players or if a player is to expensive or not.

I’d consider them sitters for a top 4 calibre forward, which Werner isn’t btw. He could never ever score a goal again and you’d still be cheerleading for him saying he’s our best player because you constantly big up the unsung heros that’s your MO

I believe that tactical adjustments will enable him to get more out of the players we have currently. We defend in a way that doesn't allow for any mistakes cause it's always running towards our own goal man for man. It's an impossible job for the defence which is why nobody does it.

A less gung ho attack would make us more solid. In the case of Udogie it's not like there is a great benefit to him playing as an auxiliary #10 anyway. We could start with two #10's and lose nothing attacking wise for example. Or send up one full back at a time. Or have the #6 go into a back 3, have another centre midfielder sit in front when the full backs go.

We lose the ball/struggle to create often cause all our players are in the width of the opposition box. There's no need for that, have one player keep the width to recycle the ball.

There's plenty of minor adjustments that would make a big difference to both our attack and defence without changing philosophy.

I missed the game but saw the stats.

What happened?! Can understand losing any game with any stats but to be beaten 4-0 😳

Agree and that's what I mean when I say he has to adjust. Not abandon his philosophy, but it needs tweaking for sure. Another pre season and recruitment of some more players he wants will help of course....
