****TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR Vs NORWICH CITY OMT THREAD****

How do people see Livermore as a style of player? I seem him more in the Jenas style role than a defensive midfielder, but Harry seems to consider him a DM. I think going forward Livermore is fairly decent, defensively not so. Unless Modders will sit deep today?

Box to box for me, can run all day and has a strong tackle. But if asked I think he could sit in front of the back four and release the ball to the wings quick enough, think chemistry between him and Lennon could be key today.

Strong side. Still not sure about Harry's tactics. If Norwich play a 4-5-1, I'd rather have 4-4-2 - 4-4-1 with VDV up front or wide as he drops in to make up the numbers in midfield. With Bale/Lennon wide, Saha/Defoe down the middle we will get width and better scoring opportunities perhaps, but may lose the midfield battle and so not get the ball we need to make the most of the width. Let's hope Modric and Livermore are really on form today.

bit of an all-rounder really. 6 or 7 out of 10 in most depts.

happy for Luka to start deep-ish, collect, give and go or beat his man and get between their midfield and defence. i tend to think he affect the game more there rather than getting up behind in a number 10 position.

To be fair, a midfield 4 of Bale, Lennon, Modric and Livermore should be plenty of a match up for any Norwich midfield.

However it depends whether the wingers now know, that they are 4-4-2 midfielders rather than forwards who can drift all over the place on and off the ball. If they don't run their lines and mark their wide zones, Luka and Jake will get murdered. Including by teams like Norwich.

Huge game for Saha and Defoe today. They will have to show a lot of work too, Bale and Lennon can't just break forward all over the place nor chase down defenders. Basically Louis and Jermaine will have to both press and to create outlets all game, if they want to justify both their individual positions and the formation they both like the best.

Defoe pretty much works his arse off every game he plays in. Saha, not so sure. I feel for them both a little today. It's their big chance, and yet they don't appear on paper to be a very good partnership.

Livermore has the highest passing success percentage of any of our midfielders this season.
He seems to play more intelligent passes than Parker. And he doesn't dwell on the ball.

Confident we are going to win today but it wont be easy. Norwich are a very hardworking team and we may need to be patient. I was suprised at how straightforward the game against them was earlier in the season. Saying that im sticking with my prediction from yesterday 5-1 \o/

I disagree. IMHO he fails to apply much a pressure when we don't have the ball, and he certainly isn't a Sheringham when we do have it - not nowhere near the movement he needs to display.

Btw, that's not to say he's a bad player. He's very very good. That's why he's made such a career and such a record of goals. If he had more movement to find space, he'd be the most lethal goalscorer in the league for a decade, I'd hazard.

Best of luck to both of them today.

Squad rotation. Brilliant if we win. Not so much if we lose, but that's Harrys problem.

To be fair, it should hardly be an experiment to put on two international strikers and an international winger.

Also happy to see Ade and Parker rested and Livermore get a start.

Norwich appaearently have played some 4-3-3 games, so perhaps we can dominate that midfield. Big game for Louis and Jermain, this is their real chance to put a few things straight.

We won't be dominating it if we play two in the middle. 3 trumps 2 nearly every time

Defoe does work very hard. But a lot of his effort is wasted. But he never stops moving or running. It's just that he often makes the wrong runs. He certainly works harder than Ade or Saha.

My point exactly.

That's why Bale and Lennon will have to chip in, which is again why Defoe and Saha will have to prove, that playing two strikers is about more than just having to poachers standing waiting for the ball in the final third.

I don't agree.

He rarely gets to apply any pressure, rarely wins the ball and he almost always can be seen standing around when we win the ball. That's hardly a controversial point to make, that's what he has been doing all career.

Still he is a good player and is my bet to win us the game today as for winning goals! It's just he is pretty demanding on his teammates !

Norwich looks like a 4-4-2 too.

Will be exciting to see now.

No flimflam about formations, just an even out test of 4-4-2's. We really, REALLY need to dominate this.

I agree, I think that he has looked pretty useful when he has got forward and he has a very good engine on him. It is probably his size which has made people think of him as a defensive midfielder.
