Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Licence To Stand

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/sep/09/chelsea-tottenham-fa-wembley

The Football Association has cleared the way for Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur to play at Wembley while their stadiums are being redeveloped. The chief executive, Martin Glenn, said he would support clubs using the 90,000-seat arena in those circumstances.

Chelsea may have to vacate Stamford Bridge for at least two seasons if their £500m plan to increase the capacity to 60,000 comes to fruition. Tottenham expect to spend the 2017-18 campaign away from White Hart Lane as they build a stadium that will also host NFL games. Both clubs are interested in a temporary relocation to Wembley.

“I won’t comment on clubs but if that’s an opportunity then we will follow it,” Glenn said. “We are there to provide help. We can run the FA for less costs and we can raise more. There’s a range of things. It’s primarily a football stadium, football matches are more profitable to run than concerts and other things.

“We are the national stadium and seeking to use it more is what we are all about. We have an obligation to football. I’m not talking specific clubs but it’s in our interest as an association for clubs to redevelop their grounds, make superb facilities and if it’s possible to help them in that transition by using Wembley we are absolutely supportive of that.”

The Premier League would give the go-ahead for Chelsea and Spurs to share Wembley for a season but will not allow a club to play home league matches at more than one stadium.

I think this is great news. Some good news at last!

All about the money.Chance to have the equivalent of 3 full seasons at the stadium too much money involved to pass up.Can the pitch stand up to a game every week though.

Either way works for us ...

Actually think Cheat$ki may have helped us here, RA was going to "ensure" they got use of Wembley, then the FA couldn't not offer us similar issues without it being a legal and PR mess

It's a great deal for West Ham if they remain in the PL, after the dildo brothers cash in on the Boleyn though they have to be careful, they'll have no collateral should they hit a rough patch.

Still can't envision Chelsea being in a position to move out for the season we are, aren't they right at the beginning of consultation and planning?

All they have so far is a model based on an architect's vision. There SHOULD be months and years involved in getting everything sorted as they have to build over railroad tracks and all the neighbours have to be consulted etc. There's also a potential newt habitat next to the ground. I wouldn't dare suggest someone go gather up a few somewhere else and plant them there...

Much as I'd hate to lose my long-term pet, I would like to offer Tiny for the task.

I call him Tiny because he's my newt.

Boom tish. I'll get my coat.

The deciding factor will be when each team wants to use the stadium. No pitch in a major stadium is able to take two full sets of fixtures, the growing conditions are too restricted.

If there isn't an overlap between ours and their requirements we would have got it anyway. Just now we'll probably have to pay the same as Chelsea.

If both teams want the stadium at the same time then the decision is going to be financial, and RA will probably out bid us.

Hard to believe that Chelsea will get permission that quickly though.

I would imagine that the best case for Chelsea is that it takes them at least 3 years from now to gain planning permission. This would give us a clear run at Wembley in season 2017/18.

If we want Wembley we should try and push through a deal as soon as possible (we probably want to wait until the next round of applications has gone through). On the other hand it would be slightly amusing to see Roman pay for Wembley before having planning permission and end up with two stadiums for that season.

he could bring some loanees back and run two teams, i'm sure they have loads of fans that would pay to watch the Chelsea Youth

Well, Inter and AC Milan have shared a stadium for ages.
