Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Licence To Stand

So you think its going to retract under the hotel/flats. I thought they had underground parking also.. some 500 didn't they say, plus under the South stand parking. Its amazing how they get all this to work gotta say.

Maybe they use the whole pitch area to stack both pitches. Therefore not needing to go under the stands.

The main problem I have with this is the pylons on the right to hold up the far larger stand is like a tenth to that in the North stand when retracted. So when NFL is in play that South Stand doesn't need the supports like the North has... as well as the East and West stands?. It simply therefore for me does not add up that the South stand does not have the same amount of support, let alone the Hotel/flats which when retracted it goes under (if it does).

Are there then going to be retractable pylons placed onto the pitch for structure support to match the other three sides during NFL mode. Would these not ruin the pitch.

What would those vertical lines be for? The ones between the buildings and the stadium.

All very intriguing

Strangely that image above has three strips of green as though the pitch is in 3... but leaving 2 bits behind?!

I think that just indicates that the outboard sections have to be moved apart laterally before they can be rolled away, so as to make room for them to slide past the supports. All this talk of stacking, I think people have been watching too many episodes of Thunderbirds. It would require massive lifting gear which would have to be housed somewhere, and I should think the scope for something to go wrong with it at just the wrong time would make it highly unattractive compared with this relatively simple, sliding arrangement.

1. It would be common sense for the NFL pitch to be slid into place. As it would be lighter and only used for special occasions. The Football pitch PL will way tons ..earth and water ..and it would be common sense to have this left on the bottom for sunlight and the fact that it will be used 90%
of the time.
I don't get the logic of the designers! plus its going to cost millions for the lever system hydraulics with all that tons of weight there is a good chance of it breaking down.

Spurs Directors,take note!

What you say would appear logical BUT this has been clarified already......the astroturf surface has to be lower to provide perfect sightlines for all spectators, especially the ones in the lower tiers as NFL teams come with half the world standing around on their touchline.

I think you should give our Directors and Populus a call mate.... As it's unlikely that they have considered any of this.

LOL! You have obviously not taken notice of anything said about the stadium before. It's been explained numerous times why the astro is the lower surface. It's always such a comedy when people throw themselves into deep water!

OK..ok...bloody Nora....LOL

Actually I did note the NFL pitch had to be lower for spectators..
just making a point...hope it works out!

Our planned new stadium is basically a transformer. It's an incredibly ambitious project. If we pull this sh** off....blimey!

I think you are bang on with that prediction. There must be some temporary 'filler' pieces running down the sides of the pitch that get removed before the pitch breaks up into three.

What gets me is the congestion there is going to be on matchday what with Sainsbury's as well...:)
We have to get help somewhere with the transport.
I used to live in Walthamstow and you couldn't even get a bus from there to WHL.
I believe its the same now!
Quite a lot of Spurs fans live in this area considering the fact its
a neighboring borough .............

As I understand it, Sainsbury's sinks down on matchdays, so that the roof is at ground level and provides additional parking.

I think that image is just speculation about what might happen by the moderator on the SSC thread. I think he added the green to the planning document for the new basement, which showed two rows of pilings or pillars under the main stand We now know that the pitch will slide out in three pieces rather than one, so it was speculated that the three pieces go either side and between these pillar. If the pieces slide straight out there would be a strip aligned with the pilings/pillars. The speculation was that this would be filled with small pallet pieces like used at the Millennium Stadium.
