Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Licence To Stand

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway Have Appealed

If this was only a money issue, it would have been solved years ago. It clearly isn't!

i would have thought it was a money issue. I'm sure there is/was an offer on the table which they have rejected in the hope that Spurs would have upped their offer considerably. I'm guessing that did not happen, at least to the extent they wanted, and now we are where we are. Archway probably thought things wouldn't have gone so far and now they have to play it out in the hope that they win.

I have no idea of the figures involved but these delays are killing us and as much as I would like Levy to bury these guys in legal fees and whatnot that approach may be cutting off our nose to spite our face. Maybe the path of least resistance is to just pay more and get things moving, much as it galls me to say it.

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway Have Appealed

As it's aCPO for and on behalf of the Council - isn't it them who will pay? And will it not also be the council who will incur further legal fees ? (I know THFC will also to keep abreast of things)

Anyone out there a local council tax payer?

Yes - it's theoretically nothing to do with us. It's Haringey vs Archway.

But then when Haringey pass on the land to us, they'll probably mark it up accordingly.

The likelihood is that when Archway lose, they will get hit with Haringey's legal costs. This process should bankrupt them - it's why the theory of a murky (Russian) backer is logical.

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway Have Appealed

One thing puzzles me... in all the media coverage about this, I keep hearing one fact repeated over and over...

"Tottenham had been scheduled to move to their 56,250-capacity new home at the start of the 2017-18 season."
(that one's from the beeb).

I was pretty sure the stadium design had been modified to accommodate an extra 5,000 seats or thereabouts (making it a 61k capacity stadium). Was that just rumour? Or a dream I had? Or what?

NEW STADIUM DEVELOPMENT - CLARIFICATION

The stadium redevelopment plans are a significant part of the future for both our Club and the local area and represent a complex infrastructure project that requires funding. This substantial construction project requires discussions with multiple providers of finance so that the optimum financing package can be achieved. To this end, we have appointed Rothschild to advise us on those options.

Accordingly, we are at a stage where we are starting to engage with a number of financing institutions and potential funders in respect of the new stadium development project.

Contrary to recent press speculation, neither the Club, nor its majority shareholder, are in any takeover discussions and the focus of the club is fully on delivering the new stadium project.

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway Have Appealed

Erm, how is that a clarification? It just says "we are trying to get funding to build a stadium". We know that.

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway Have Appealed

If we move into our new stadium before I turn 40 (I'm 29), I will be surprised. Sigh.

We got planning permission for 58k

The redesign to incorporate the kop dropped it to 56k

And that was the last official announcement, so that's why it is always what is quoted in the media. Anything else is just speculation and would require new planning permission.

As we'll now have another 12-15 months wait for the courts to confirm the CPO, I doubt we'll bother about revising planning permission.

Instead I think we'll just build it and then submit planning to expand the extra 5-6k the day it is finished, just like Brighton did.

Erm, how is that a clarification? It just says "we are trying to get funding to build a stadium". We know that.

Maybe they could have phrased it as "the funding we are trying to get is to build a stadium". It would seem to be a response to the numpties at the Mirror equating fund raising with selling.

Am I right, sir ?

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway Have Appealed

I find it hard to believe that one company can frivolously and maliciously halt the progress of another one without any financial penalty at all.

I don't think it would take much for a few local Spurs fans to make it impossible for them to trade for a few days - I'm sure a few days of lost revenue would make them see a little more clearly.

We can't say that their behaviour is either frivolous or malicious - though it might be. And there most certainly will be a financial penalty for them if - as is the most likely outcome - their appeal fails.

More importantly, though, this dispute shouldn't be described in terms of one company against another. That's what Archway want it to be. And if it is, then we have no rights at all. Our "progress" is immaterial. The council has no right to serve a CPO for that end. And the High Court judge will side with Archway. This only works if it is genuinely a dispute between a company (Archway) and a local council which is attempting to enable the regeneration of the entire area.

starting to engage????surely after all this time theyve had plenty of discussions and should in fact be close to actually securing the funding

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway Have Appealed

They're only bringing the law to bear, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Of course, should any of their vehicles be double parked in the area, or anywhere, the law should be involved.

Should any of their vehicles be seen speeding or running lights, then the law should be involved.

And should any loose loads or perceived safety transgressions be observed, the (H&S) law should be involved.

Law & Order is fine by me - unfortunately I'm not in the vicinty ..... others might be.

:)

AS the statement on the OS made clear, Spurs are willing to talk to Archway. It seems that it is Archway that are unwilling to talk to Spurs.

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway Have Appealed

how about we redesign the plan and simply knock down the old WHL and build the new one as near as possible on the same footprint of the old ground. It may mean that we have to play at another ground for 2 years and not 1, but at least we will definitely have a new home to move into

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway Have Appealed

right now there is no certainty that we will win this battle over Archway. Its all more time wasted. We need a change of plan

If this dispute is settled in Haringey's favour only as a consequence of a court's decision then, yes, it will be Haringey that pays (before we pay them back). And they will pay market value. No more, no less. However, if Spurs can come to an arrangement with Archway out of court, then Spurs will pay Archway directly. Likewise, if the courts eventually decide in favour of Archway, I guess that Spurs would also pay Archway directly (though far more, since Archway would hold all the cards). Either that or Spurs would have to start all over again at a new site, if they could find one. Practically zero chance of Spurs taking that option, I'd have thought.

Wow. I find it amazing that there isn't a number that Archway have in mind that would actually make them vacate. **** em then. Hope they get wiped out by this.
