Toby Alderweireld

I think if we meet his valuation they would sell to us.I would hope a deal of toby +30mill would be an option but i would be surprised if we got as much as 60 but whatever we get we just add the money to make it up to 80-90 mill.No one is really going to pay that for him.

fudge him now, there was no reason for him to want to leave, other than dough.
Whatever the outcome, and probable he’s going, he’s not on my Christmas card list.

The thing is Utd do not have to sell him to us

And we don't have to sell Toby to United.

I have to repeat, selling Toby to a direct rival is essentially getting rogered by them in return. It resurrects the idea that United are too big for ickle Spurs to resist - at some stage, we have to cave and return to selling them our crown jewels and accepting our place in the order of things, as obedient servants to the big clubs in this league.

That is the precedent we will return to if we sell Toby to United without Martial coming the other way.

And if Levy then uses the money he gets from selling Toby to then go and buy *Grealish*, or some other third-rate Championship clogger....

....well, we will see, won't we?

I swear, Toby will not manage a full, uninjured season again. I would bite their hands off for that money. Does anyone STILL doubt Poch here? IF he wanted to keep him, we'd be keeping him. Something(s) have happened to shatter that trust and fealty from the manager towards Toby. Furthermore, I'd hope Moanwhinio puts him right in again st us late August, because we will know EXACTLY how to get past him. Again, let's hope we take the money and strengthen where WE want to, not where Man Utd or fans tell us we need to strengthen from.

I agree, same with Rose and Dembele, always njured always missing half a season at least
I don't think so. Toby had a muscular injury. They usually heal or resolve with other muscles helping out. Not quite the same with joint and ligament problems,.

Goodbye Toby then.

Some talk of him and his Mrs ‘disrespecting’ Poch and the club, but I can find no detail.

Cant help but wonder if he’d have been more ‘respectful’ had we paid competitively of course.

Also, I wonder if this is a knock on from the Kyle Walker situation, where players realise how to engineer a move and get more money.. Knowing that we will always cave in to a United or City.

Anyway, off goes a world class player and with no Martial, we continue our run of the last player we permanent signed from Man United as being..... Hmmmm...?

Two squad fillers who didn't even make the England squad in return for one of the best defenders in the world?

We'd get someone like de Ligt as well

Any chance we could sign Martial, de Ligt, Grealish and Cook plus sell Toby, Sissoko and GKN in the remaining 4.5 days?!?

Teddy? And that’s irksome enough, as they had his best years.

Because Poch runs a tight-lipped ship.

I’d like both of these a hundred times each if I could.

Yeah, and I think he might have actually been a free agent.
I genuinely can’t find when we last paid United for a player - they just don’t ever sell to us.

I'm not sure we've ever paid to sign a player from Yankited, a quick google search shows the last player before Teddy to join us from united was way back in the 1930's! -

Jack Hall was a goalkeeper who had four seasons with United from 1932. In season 1935-36, Hall impressed in the two games between the clubs, keeping a clean sheet on both occasions. United were promoted but Spurs persuaded Hall to sign for them and he made his debut a few weeks ahead of James Brown. He was almost an ever present in his first season but the next year, a loss of form saw him lose his place to Percy Hooper. He was unavailable to Spurs during the War and when he returned in 1945 Spurs had Ted Ditchburn as a very promising goalkeeper and Hall was released. In total he played 67 League and Cup games for Spurs.

We really need to move away from this thinking as ironically i think it is that what is small time - if Alderwiereld wants United and they want him then the deal should have been struck during last season to conclude when the window opens - we then get on with improving our team with the added 50-60m or whatever is.

fudge United, if they don't get him they'll blow big money on some other highly rated player anyway - biting our nose off to spite our face by keeping hold of a player we aren't going to use isn't making a stand or a point, it's just holding us back and making us look petty.
