Toby Alderweireld

I still think this 'chase' with Alderweireld is for show...i'm with JJetset on this one...great to watch unfold either way though..

why is it for show, what are we not really interested in signing him?

I believe the ITKs on this one: i don't beleive we are really in for him. After all we have enough CBs already and CB is NOT a priority position to strengthen.
It could be cover for buying another of Atletico's players (e.g. Mario Suarez) or our trip is also to negotiate a better working relationship in future. I also wouldn't be surprised that in turn we are doing Atletico a favour by getting Chelski to come in with a late bid and actually pay even more than Atletico would accept.

This 'legal challenge' story now may possibly give the media hounds enough brick to eat whilst we go about trying to negotiate acquiring much more urgent targets without as much media scrutiny.
Just me twopence worth..

ohhh i love conspiracy theories but .............

anyway about having enough cbs. I think you need to make your way to the Vertonghen thread. One of our posters has said Verts is signing for United

Yeah, i saw that. Would be a strange one if that were to happen. I'd be ok with it though if we got Alderwiereld in

Popcorn ready!

That's only small bag so don't think I'm sharing

I'd rather win games than transfer 'battles'. I don't think alderweireld is the centre half we need.
We need someone with experience of playing regularly with a top club in a proper league who can organise the defence and not crumble under pressure when things go against us.

agree, but who can we get?

Alderweireld & Jan is probably the best we could have hoped for as a cb pairing going into next season, two seasoned internationals, I can think of many better cb's but we are not in a position to go after the cream.

Dont really know much on Wimmer but I think Dier is an excellent prospect. So why not go with Jan & Toby and keep Fazio, Wimmer & Dier ticking along,

I think the majority of our fans would see this as a positive signing....key aim is to get rid of players not wanted and bring in a centre midfielder who is adept at the defensive side of the game.

Fazio fits that description better than Alderweireld.

It's sh!t like this that makes me sometimes think we shouldn't bother with the transfer market and just rely on our academy for players. Absolutely sick of this sh!t plus the usual headline spins "Spurs in for Mega Wega amazing signing oh my dayzzzzz!". Turns out to be a link with someone you've never heard of or just the usual agent spin to get his greedy c#nt of a client or self or both in most cases more money from another club.
