Thomas Frank - Head Coach

Likewise, I said exactly that to mates at HT, pleased for Frank that he got this performance after the few days he’s had.

No idea why he can’t get the slightest tune out of the team in the Prem though.

I think it’s just psychological. A) we won the Europa League last year but finished 17th in the league, so we have more confidence in Europe. And B) the fans are more excited on a European night and so are more positive and supportive from the off.

This forum always has endless debates about whether the manager is brick or the players are brick, but personally I think that massively underestimates the psychological factor in all of this. And tonight is clear evidence of that IMO.

Players being sent out with clear instructions and well drilled patterns of play helps that confidence as well. Rather than back foot, negative, reactionary football.

We've lacked any kind of consistency though

I cant remember the specific games but there was a game where we were brilliant first half, dreadful second, then next game, the total opposite.

It hasn't always been 90 mims fully of poor negative football.

managers at U8 level do that, doesn't mean they get followed

what was it Tyson said, everyone has a plan, until you punch them in the mouth
That's the point, Spurs need to smack the opponent in the mouth, then when they are surprised, smack them again and again until they go down.
Spurs shouldn't sit back and assess how good their jab is and whether their uppercut is frightening or not.
Just go forwards with some real attack and try to kill them.

Yep, this was supposedly the 2nd best team in the Bundesliga - it's poor out there.
Weirdest thing Bodo beating City though… I was there when they came to our place last season and they could barely kick a ball forward; seriously one of the worse teams to come to the stadium ( still managed a goal though). And yet they beat City. That does not bode well for Arsenal’s only serious challenger.

who is more foolish, the fool, or the fool who follows him?

What happened today? Has Frank changed the intent suddenly?

First-half we played with a fire and anger I have not seen for sometime. I thought Romero and Porro were outstanding in driving us forward, keeping us up the pitch and dictating the snap and crackle of what was needed.
I'll keep my deeper thoughts on that to myself, nonetheless, very positive.
It's a shame we ended up in that semi-space again second-half, dropping off a bit more than we needed to rather than going again at the start of the second, getting a third and then being able to rest some, BUT beggars should not be choosers and this is not a night to see anything negative more than celebrate the positive outcome, result and performance.
I'll say this. If we can hold onto a top 8 spot (and Frankfurt are not good this season so I think we can) then suddenly we are last 16. Anything can happen. Marginal gains are important, and one of those is we have to have a manager who believes we can win it (however ludicrous that might sound). Let's hope he believes, because irony of ironies, his pragamatic per-game approach might well work perfectly at that stage of a tournament.
Right now, I'm glad for all of us something is positive...now onto that next phase of the CL, Burnlio away!!!!! (well we are top 4 in the CL so let's pretend hahaha)
