Thomas Frank - Head Coach

Really loved seeing him lose it on the touchline, both for their goal and our equaliser. For someone who puts so much stock in being balanced and measured, it was great to see. I really want him to succeed.

I also think that there is clearly something we are building towards, which is that when we want to, we can physically dominate team. A period of the second half has the same vibes as the Liverpool game where they couldn’t live with us. A price to pay for that is often a measured first half, but being able to raise our level in that way is a really good sign.

We simply have to stop conceding stupid goals. It’s not on Frank at this point. It is ridiculous some of the mistakes that we make.

That said, with the amount of injuries you take that result and performance all day long. It’s a really good point, and great to see the players are trying to make this work.

If you look at the performances rather than the results as a whole there's definitely signs we are going in the right direction.

Fair play to Frank for appearing to keep a level head amongst all the vitriol aswell.
Palace, Brentford, Sunderland, west ham, Burnley….

What we deserved was W, D, L, L, D. Absolute waste.

Honestly the spin is incredible!

First half was frustrating cos who goes against City with a two man midfield? It immediately invited pressure on Radu, Romero and Palinha cos City could have moon walked through our midfield.
In retrospect you could argue TF could’ve pushed Palhinha into midfield in the first half but overall he is making more right decisions than wrong ones in the past few weeks.

Absolutely, but I think the injuries are helping. We have more balance in the available midfielders and attackers, instead of playing a defensive double pivot

But that only happened when we gifted them possession idiotically.

When we went long we pressed high and they struggled to play out.

But that's the problem with a two man midfield, you can't make a mistake. But also, when we were attacking there wasn't enough runners or support - I think we discussed whether Xavi should have taken a shot and hoped for a deflection - that for me summed it all up.

Second half, our midfielders still lost the ball but were able to get back, and we had more options going forward.

That's my view, and I always favour a three man midfield cos we can't let teams just walk through it

We didn't struggle because of the formation - no matter how much you try to pin this on the manager.... for obvious reasons.

Bissouma getting hispocket picked like a drunken sailor or Dragusin giving a short pass to a completely unmarked opponent or failing to close down Chrki are not tactics.... they are just episodes of incompetence! Not surprising that neither has played until we were down to bare bones.

We drew v Snuderland which I think was fair, but the others i disagree, West ham were better than us and v Burnley we pushed hard but I think a draw was fair.

You put an L for Sunderland implying you felt we deserved to lose? Unless I'm reading your post wrong

I think we’d also agree that neither player are particularly schooled in how TF wants us to play, and as such mistake will find them more easily.

It feels like a critical juncture, one which really requires recognition of the green shoots rather than perpetual complaint about what type of football we do/don’t want.
We are three games unbeaten and in the last 16 of the CL. I still think we can haul ourselves into EL qualification with a run of results, and I still believe we can achieve that, especially with the confidence to be found in results such as todays and Wednesdays. On a human level I am glad the guy has had this week; he has tried his best, that has never been in doubt, and so I’ll give him a thumbs up and say COYS!
