These jokers…

You’re reaching with Kane there mate aren’t you…
From my fading memory, he was better during Sherwood’s brief tenure than any of our current CFs are doing now.

But the gist of my point still stands that this squad is lacking the top-end talent which that one had.

Plus I think you could also argue the PL was less competitive from top-to-bottom back then. Can’t remember where I saw it, online or YT, but it explained through data how competitive the PL is currently, and that a lower-mid table PL would be pushing for a CL place if they were in Serie A for example. So while Sherwood may have had a couple of “gimmies” back in 13-14, that is certainly not the case now. As we saw last weekend.

Thats all side talk that makes this forum interesting/ish

The reality is despite the really small 20 game sample size I don't think he is a good manager, I don't think his track record warrants a second look and I don't think any two situations are ever the same, as I said yesterday, this is not the same as when he took over before.

If his record at Spurs was such a guide to his management he would have been picked up by another PL club by now, he hasn't and I suspect there is a reason for that

There were a whole bunch of unique situations back in Sherwood’s last stint that don’t apply now, i.e. that he had really good, first hand knowledge of a good youth crop coming through, could put back in a few good players who had fallen out with AVB and could set us up differently to the mind numbingly boring football that his immediate predecessor had us playing and that would improve the atmosphere in the stadium.

He is not a good choice to take us over now as those things above don’t really apply.

Unfortunately I don’t think there is anyone now that we could actually have a hope of getting who could take us over and magically get us safe, we have to just stick with what we’ve got.

I just find it laughable when people don’t want to admit that he did a really good job at Spurs last time round. He has the highest points per game of any of our managers (odd game caretakers not included) since the PL started.

It’s weird how some people can be so swayed at a persons performance just because of the fact they aren’t particularly eloquent or they have a common accent (the same goes for Redknapp as well)

You keep repeating the same stuff, ignoring the fundamentals of the point.

His winning sample size was 20 games (or so) here in the PL, so the "great PL manager by win %" over the short time is factual but also slightly a pathetic win, there are managers with less over 100 games or more and their % lower but are more significant than him. Again I ask why with that % being so important in your eyes, why hasn't he picked up another job since Villa?

The rest can also be true but not impact the above.

I suspect because he did badly at Villa. His Spurs record was good. That got him the chance at Villa. Where he did badly….

And as he hasn’t got much other experience PL teams aren’t likely to take a chance.

Why is it that you can’t admit he did a good job at Spurs?

Ive said before he did a good job, but it was a massively short time so I dont read anything into it more than it was.

No more no less.

I leave it to others who conflate my personal opinion of him with my proffesional one, I cant control that.
