The transfer window thread.

Eriksen out and this guy in would be good but im not sure where that would leave Lo Celso and/or Alli - this guy plays an AM role doesn't he?

This is largely why I dont think we need to directly replace Eriksen. In position/area of the pitch/skillset (sort of) we already have.

And if we do try and replace him, it throws the balance of the midfield right off and leaves me wondering what will be for players like that.

He plays in a 3 in midfield
If you work on the basis of having him Ndom and Le Celso in a 4 with a DM it’s options we don’t have currently. And with Ndom being made of glass it’s a nice option

Director would ‘place’ forward at Everton or Tottenham – He’s no longer ‘non-transferable’
By Sean Lunt -

2nd January 2020

Everton and Tottenham have been named as potential destinations for Roma attacker Cengiz Ünder.

Roma are looking to add to their squad in the January transfer market but will first have to move players on, with Ünder among them.

The right sided attacker, who can also play on the left or through the middle, has managed just one goal in ten appearances for Roma this season, while a return from a hamstring injury suffered earlier in the campaign has been slow.

He has managed just five minutes of football in his last three games and currently finds himself down the pecking order at the club.

They would happily move him on in January, and according to Il Mattino, sporting director Gianluca Petrachi is working to that end.

He would ‘place’ Ünder at either Everton or Tottenham, while there is also interest from Bayern Munich in Germany.

The newspaper does not state if any of these clubs are even interested in Ünder, just that these are the three locations Roma would look to send him to.

Calciomercato report that he is no longer ‘non-transferable’, though, with Roma having put a €35-40m price tag on his head.

That’s a high price, particularly for the likes of Everton, who have more pressing needs for the winter window.

Indeed, the website states that no offers have arrived in Roma at the moment, suggesting a move to England isn’t likely at this early point in January.

If we do go for a forward in Jan ( which should be a low priority imo) then I suspect it will be a battering ram type of CF that JM would prefer ala Drogba or Diago Costa type.

Arsenal face Thomas Lemar transfer battle as Tottenham 'consider loan move'
Tottenham reportedly want to sign France winger Lemar on loan for rest of season in bid to beat rivals Arsenal to January transfer target

Arsenal are battling rivals Tottenham to sign Thomas Lemar from Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window, according to latest reports.

Atletico are reportedly looking to offload Lemar following a disappointing spell at the Wanda Metropolitano, with the winger having made just nine La Liga starts this season.

The 24-year-old France international has been subbed off before the hour mark in his last two appearances, and Atletico appear keen to cash in on interest from Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.

But now Tottenham have also joined the race for Lemar, who joined Atletico from Monaco for £63million in July 2018.

That is according to Foot Mercato , who claim that Tottenham do not have the funds for a January transfer so are hoping to take Lemar on loan for the rest of the season with an option to buy in the summer.

On Thursday it was reported that Atletico had called on super agent Jorge Mendes to try and broker a deal to send Lemar to Arsenal .

Lemar almost joined the Gunners in 2018 before plumping for Atletico.

Spanish outlet Marca claimed the club had called on Mendes, their "most trusted agent" to work on an exit strategy with Arsenal named as their best hope.

Lemar's name is believed to have been mentioned by club scouts as they eye winter targets having watched him closely in the past.

Arsenal boss Arteta was set for a meeting with club chiefs on Thursday to discuss their plans now the January window is open.

But it is as yet unclear whether they will fund a potentially expensive move for midfielder Lemar, with improvements in defence considered to be the priority for the Gunners in this window.

Arsenal are currently 10th in the Premier League, nine points off a top-four spot, and have the joint-worst goals conceded record in the top half of the table, along with Tottenham.

The Gunners host Leeds United in the third round of the FA Cup on Monday.

Oh come on! Is this the peak of ridiculousness and it's only three days into the window

I was so excited when we got him, loved what he was about at the world cup. And Im still a little sad we never gave him a real crack at it.

Considering Poch was always the FB whisperer, and Yedlin was potentially an evolution of Kyle Walker, I really thought he would get more of a chance
