Also helps they had a mostly fit squad all seasonLook at Liverpool. Watching them play I was wondering how their press is so consistent and effective. From that graph it seems either the system they play allows it to be a ‘compressed’ or positional press. So they sprint quite a lot but not long distances or situational press, ie they only press in certain circumstances.
Either way, that seems an infinitely more sustainable, efficient and effective way to play - with room to ask a bit more from your players on occasion.
Seems sensible to me.
