The price of stuff

Car insurance renewal came through, thought it was a bit high so shopped around, not worth the hassle of moving for the tiny savings elsewhere. The whole industry has put prices up.
Industry prices have all but doubled in a year or so.

Had to put the Aston on a specialist low mileage insurance to make it even vaguely reasonable.

Because, shock horror, many people can't afford a phone outright and most of their possessions are borrowed on credit.
I'd bet most people can afford a phone outright.

Sure there's many that can't afford the phone they want though.

Im actually getting a good deal compared to the London average, but its still the most I’ve paid in a decade, no changes from my side that would explain it either.

Always phone them up and haggle and threaten to leave; they always knock a large chunk off.
Also, your lowest point will be about 30 days before renewal; the longer you wait towards the cut-off date, the more the price creeps up as they feel you are a risk taker.

We've had the same.

£273 last year £443 this year for the wives policy.

Its parts and labour costs going up BUT also how long it's taking to turnaround repairs with part shortages and supply chain issues. The associated costs ramp up massively.

A BIG issue is electric car write offs
Most are so hard to repair theh ahev to write the off And they are so expensive to replace
My brother in laws Tesla was hit by a car and its body work damage but as the area had some proximity to battery storage a £3/4k repair is now £11k and he is lucky it wasn’t a ding either side of where it was

Very true. My cousin works for a Tesla approved repairers...the costs are horrendous.
Just the EV battery being replaced is serious money.

There must be some serious wastage going with the write-offs...contrary to an EVs green claims.

I'm gonna do some comparisons tomorrow and see where I'm at.

It’s horendous
How have 46000 evs in our fleet now and we are budgeting on the replacement due to “damage” of 500 a year. Then you have your normal accidental issues on top

I don’t see why insurers don’t have one book for ice vehicles and another separate for electric with distinct pricing.

Tesla can set up their own insurer.

Most (non-Tesla) EVs can now have individual cells replaced within the battery.

Still needs a specialist but the days of having to replace an entire battery are gone.

Well no real joy with shopping around on the price comparisons.

Got the renewal quote down by £25 tweaking a few things...despite the industry info I've read on rises and the reasoning it just feels such a massive jump percentage wise...shrug.

BUT what concerns me...is our risk profile for a quote is ticking the low box on many many aspects....so where does that leave premiums for higher risk customers...and high potential of a rise in uninsured drivers.
