Since when do they have to be 16? Theres a 15 year old Gymnast competing for GB this year, probably younger in the competition too.
 
The breaks are pretty short, even still. In the athletics and swimming they have heats in the mroning and finals in the evening. In cycling sprints they get as little as 40 minutes depending on the heats and still manage back-to-back PBs.

Question since you seem to know more about track cycling then me. How come the best idividual sprinter is last in the team event? Hoy and Pendelton finish it off, but I would have thought the best individual sprinter would be the best starter
