The Official Olympic Thread

I don't think he's AWOL. Sounds like he's training in some low key athletics club while his coach and the rest of the athletes went to Portugal and he didn't wanna go.

He gets funded by the UKA. Has been for 12 years. He should do what he's told. no way he gets a. Medal and he's depriving a fit athlete. Qunt behaviour basically.

Not sticking up for him cos yeah it sounds like he's being bit of pain in the arse for them but the other side of the argument is that he's been such a great triple jumper over the last 12 years and clearly the best for GB since Jonathan Edwards that maybe if he's touch and go to compete thru injury then he has earned the right to decide himself what's best and could still be getting intense treatment from some official source. It's just CVC being arsey cos the athlete didn't wanna travel to Portugal.

Who knows hey?

I hope he is able to compete cos the Olympic Gold has alluded him and there's some rivals missing this year. The crowd always love him too

Our swimmers are slowly getting better, not medal wise but getting into a lot of finals now compared to 2008. A lot of them are fairly young too, should be in with a chance of a good few medals in Rio.

A massive "up yours" to the aussie press over here who had been taking delight at 'the poms cant get a gold'

They simply couldn't accept that we got more golds than them in Beijing. They basically said England only do well in events where you sit down i.e. rowing/cycling etc. Anything to soften the blow I suppose.

If he has barely competed all year then I doubt he will do much, generally a big time choker as well.

To be fair, we should be decent at swimming, it's an indoor sport. Not saying we underachieve because they are plenty of other countries who are great at swimming, but we should be getting to plenty of finals at the very least, which we have done this year.

Ok quick question

Why did the Brit who finished 7th in the semi final still going to the final? Isnt it like the top four from each semi that goes through to the final?

Also I would definitely do Claire Baldwin - I bet she has a dirty streak to her.

Nope, 8 fastest across both heats.

Look how many 50 metre pools there are in the UK. There are more 50 metre pools in Paris than there are in the UK!!

What a lame statement!! Just because it's indoors we should be good at something?

We don't exactly have a beech culture in the UK do we??

LMAO
