*** The Official 'How do you stop Emirates Marketing Project?!?!' OMT ***

that is spending 100 mill:lol:.......we got a ridiculous sum for one of our players and spent it all. If i gave you 100k for your E type Jag and you spent it all on 7 Ford Fiestas, you spent it on those cars. You spent the cash. Re investing, spending, there is no difference. You had a large sum of money in your hands and now you dont.

Are you being deliberately obtuse? Not to labour a point here, compared to teams like Emirates Marketing Project, who spend 100 million without having to balance books, we cannot spend 100 million. There is a MASSIVE difference between spending 100 mill of your own money and spending 100 million of money received by selling an asset. That is the point I am making...

Simply put we spent £100 million to compensate for a loss.
City spend in excess of £100 million to improve on top of a world class squad.

1) Lennon was anonymous

2) Sig kept drifting inside and left Rose isolated when attacking

3) Started slow again and never got going, we've managed to turn it around before but it was too late by time we eventually got going.

4) We came up against a team that are in **** hot form, it happens, AVB wasn't entirely to blame when we lost 6-0 and Sherwood isn't entirely to blame tonight either.

5) Eriksen never got into the game despite some outstanding set pieces.

6) Bentaleb looked out of his depth which isn't a disaster at this stage of his career.

7) Appalling decisions by the linesman.

8) Didn't close them down and they exploited the space we gave them.

I kinda agree with most do this but....

Siggy is an awful wise player. He rarely offers for the ball and just isn't creative. His only strength is he scores the odd goal but I'd much rather see Holtby cover there whilst we have better wide players out injured or even have Ade hug that side with Soldado on. The problem on the left is huge and it gives teams playing us so much room on that side.

The first 30 reminded me of Swansea and Siuthampton to a degree where a slow start was followed by a really strong period.

I've never seen a Spurs game swing so much against us due to such poor decisions from the officials. Don't get me wrong we have had decisions go in our favour but today they changed the game significantly.

poor showing from sherwood - i'd thought he'd be smarter to have learnt from our past games but instead doggedly wanted to impose his own view of the game.

we got punished the same way as we did away, we didn't learn how to plug that hole in front of the defence. didn't learn how to maintain possession FOR control of the game. if not for aguero going off it would have been an even worse rout!

the psychological win would have been more important for the rest of the season, players now have to pull themselves again for the upcoming games which includes a few tough fixtures.

bentalaleb - bright kid, but best brought on in the second half; dembele was doing all the heavy lifting out there and my greatest fear was that he should get injured.

we also spent a large part of that money on youth and potential

in hindsight we should maybe have gone out and signed a ready made replacement for Bale (if such a player could be tempted here) even if it meant spending 45/50m on a single player

i know that, City have unlimited funds and we dont. We have to sell to buy. Im just saying that last summer we were in a very fortunate position of having a massive amount of money to spend. Massive!!

All those saying 'we don't need to play a DM' no doubt think we should sell Sandro and Capoue and use the money to buy a LB and another striker.
I look forward to similar comments if we aren't able to play a DM against other top sides later this season.

Said my peace and can't be arsed to argue a VERY BASIC point anyway.

Let's hope we beat Hull to at least let the possibly forlorn hope continue

I don't think their squad is all that for the money they have spent

What they have is arguably 5 or 6 players who are the best one or two in their position in this league. I'd put Aguero and Negredo in the top 3 strikers, Zabaletta as the best right back, Toure as the best centre midfielder and Fernandinhonlooks very good, plus Kompany who doesn't look as good as he did but is still class

But look at the bench and you have Lescott who they don't want, Kolorov who IMO isn't all that, Rodwell who has done nothing, DZeko would normally be in their too and he is a very good player, Jovetic won't do anything in this league IMO, plus the **** Portuguese centre midfielder. Their only injured players that im aware of are Milner and Nasti who both make the squad but is it really all that for the best part of £500m?

If in a years time, TS is still making those errors and we get beat by such scorelines, but its been around 6-8 weeks. So I would suggest lets give this a rest as its a bit dry really. Im sure some on here who keep spouting the same **** should also realise how boring they sound. Im sure such people are even fed up of spouting the same crap day in... day out...

I agree with this. I would have liked Capoue in as defensive cover behind Dembele and Bentalab from the get go and I think TS got this one wrong. Lets see if he learns from this experience and will play Sandro there in the big games against top opponents.

City were flying tonight. They are probably the best attacking team in Europe at the moment and we were without our two best centre halves and our two best central mid fielders. No disgrace in losing to them, especially when we didn't get the rub of the green, were hampered by two poor decisions and reduced for most of the second half to ten men. Reality check please people.

What most disappointed me was in fact our offensive play. Ade reverted to the Mk2 variety, constant offsides, poor hold up play and losing possession too frequently. Lennon and Sigi were invisible as offensive threats. Eriksen tried hard but nothing came off for him. We never threatened the City goal at any time during the game. For me, that was the most depressing thing about tonight.

Agree with all these points. We had to match City,s pressing early doors and we just didn't.

Surely we were 1-0 down having had a goal chalked off in error before the sending off?

The point we were discussing was the result of City had their shooting boots on. If they did, we'd have been about 4 down by the time our goal was disallowed.

And I really don't think you can call for the linesman to make a different mistake to the one he did. Fair enough to ask him to get the decision right, but it still would have been offside, just for a different player.

... To make up for a player we could not afford to lose under any circumstance really. Though we never got over the sale of Modric. What a player!!!

yeah, the position was even more fortunate before we had all that money, oh where we'd be if we had kept the boy wonder

its not about net spend, just simply having a sum of money at your disposal and then spending it. If we got 40 mill for Bale, we would have spent that 40 mill. We got 86 mill, and we spent all that 86 mill. The question is did we spend it wisely. Probably we would have been more careful had we only got 40 mill for Bale:-k

We lost 100m+ worth of talent in the summer, either wanted or against our will and we spent 100m. This ignoring of one side of the equation seems mind numbing stupid to me but I've seen so many people do it since the summer maybe I'm missing something? (What you explained before does not explain this train of thought by the way)

Yes. In fairness, Dzeko could've had an easy hat trick if he hadn't been wearing DMs and Bentaleb's ball-juggling in the box was hilarious (and a clear pen)... Ageuro...different level wasn't he?

Can you imagine the excuses Jord and Scara would be making if those decisions occured under AVB

Dzeko today looked lied he couldn't hit a barn door.... The goal he scored almost came off his foot.

Augero though is pure class and just works his socks off whilst taking chances.

What did stand out for me was City use the ball incredibly well. I don't really remember them running with it much at all but they passed it incredibly well and accurately
