*** The Official 26/27 Premier League Thread ***

It will be marvellous when they start losing a few on the trot, because I can't for the life of me think that the majority of their players enjoy what they are doing. They tolerate it as long as they're winning, but if it starts to go south, I think they'll unravel like a house of cards in a blizzard.

I think the players probably do enjoy it, because Arteta has signed a bunch of weirdos that act out what he wants. As much I praise them for having a culture, I’d hate it if it was our culture. Bruno Guimaraes today sliding in on Barcola - as the help defender because Rice was on him - and celebrating like he’s just scored a goal when he actually conceded a corner…it felt to me like classic Arteta psychological nonsense, celebrate the small wins. To me it’s unbearably cringe and if I was told our players had to act exactly like theirs and we’d win the league I’d say no thanks.

Just saw the shirt pull. How do they justify not penalising it? In what world do the refs look at that and think; "Nah, that's a perfectly fine way to stop a goalscoring opportunity"? Shocking. Again.

Genuinely this stuff is ruining the game. What is the point if the rules can’t be enforced?

I’ve heard discussion that because they raise and lower the threshold for what constitutes a foul on a shirt pull because they get complaints either way that it’s difficult for the refs. But I just don’t buy it. I don’t see why it’s hard to look at the situation in context and understand…was the defender making a play on the ball, no…did his shirt pull clearly impede the momentum of the striker…yes. Ok so it’s a foul and a penalty.

Respectfully, I think you're missing the tactics here.

Some clubs, ours included, are just sick and tired of the bias nonsense that comes out of the mouths of the Sky p ricks. Carragher heads that list with his mate Neville. They happily abuse their position as pundits and take pot shots at different clubs and players. It is as if they untouchable just like the spitting incident which brought Carragher down with a bump in life. He is a lucky man to still have a job at Sky.

I doubt Villa ever thought that it would go to court and become a real lawsuit. However, Sky soon took that little p rick in a room and made him apologise for being a nob. Villa won the battle and put Sky back in their box. Good for them. Now Carragher will just pause a little each time he is about to step out of line. He'll know that thew world is watching his bahaviours and he might change. He is a leopard though.

Personally, I think some of the clubs like us and Villa do need to throw our weight around with entities like PGMOL and Sky once in a while. It keeps them on their toes and make them act more professionally.

So you're in favour of big organisations dictating what individuals can say?

It was rather reminiscent of Palhinha’s celebrations following successful tackles when we were battling against relegation at the end of last season.

Think that RDZ has loftier ambitions than that for our new improved midfield though.

Good to see the shirt pull highlighted on MotD (helps that there’s no dirty Goons on their panel for a change) and concur that Isak needed to make more of a meal of it (albeit not throwing himself to the ground like MacAllister) so that VAR will wake up and do their sodding job!

It was. But my point was more being the help defender on the touchline with Barcola having nowhere to go.

If memory serves Palinha won two tackles in a row in the middle of the pitch, hard tackles, and it was one on one both times. That’s my point…it’s like Arsenal think they are doing the ‘high performance’ thing but are exactly always just on the wrong side and it cringes me the hell out.

100% ! The greatest thing about our resurgence isn’t just that we’ve won 3 in a row, but that we’re actually playing good football. Pinging the ball around quickly and trying to make things happen, rather than diving and arguing with the ref.

Not impossible we could be playing the best football in the league soon…while the scum are still attempting to turn every match into a diving / set piece contest. I just hope the media has to turn on them at some point.

It also should’ve been a red card for denying a clear goal scoring opportunity.
Becoming a cliche at this point, but if that was Romero then it’s a def pen and red card and nobody would bat an eyelid..,

I didn’t see the pull until this morning and it’s way worse than I was expecting. Blatant penalty.

I don't think many of us agree with censorship of free speech but our society has change so much and people abuse the right. Social media has allowed the village idiots and evil people air their opinions to the world which little can be done to control. The established media and their employees have a duty to uphold some standards and should not pander to the simple minded mob.

Gooners are just Liverpool of the 80s, horrible football, horrible people.

Gabriel really is the most loathsome player to infest this league in many years, how the feck he gets away with these shameless antics every sodding week 🤬 If only everyone was as adept at the Dark Arts as VARsenal then Haaland would’ve got this twunt red-carded during last season’s run-in and Isak would’ve got Timber sent off yesterday 🟥🟥

Not relevant here when the pull was so clear and blatant, but if the striker isn't impeded, what was the pull for? The intent is there. It's crazy where players holding the jersey of other players is considered acceptable as long as they don't pull too hard.
